Tales of the Urban Explorer: The House of Neglect
I don't think I have had to ever pixelate so many of my images. Even though 'The House of Neglect’ has already done the ‘Tour Bus’ last year, I would rather it not be made too easy to find.
Urbex Terminology: Tour Bus – When a location gets so popular that every bastard visits it, resulting in you potentially meeting other ‘explorers’ while there.
‘Buses’ of tourists who are not explorers then start arriving, creating graffiti, spray paint, and who have a fondness for smashing windows and anything in the property. Items of value often get stolen and sold on eBay.
I found ‘The House of Neglect’ using clues posted by others, so if you are reading this and want to know where it is, then stick on your ‘clueso hat’ and work it out for yourself.
I can't go into too much detail about the history for fear of the second wave of Tour Buses who would line up outside, with maybe some enterprising twat asking for an entrance fee at the gate.
The family ran into financial difficulties in the 1980s with the owner eventually killing himself using the carbon monoxide trick in his truck.
The wife and daughter continued to live there until 2007 when it was abandoned. They decided to dump all their possessions for some strange reason.
We vaulted the gate and walked down the lane to where @grindle visited months before me.
The sofas were still outside ready for the OAP party, though looking a touch damp.
Getting inside was hardly an issue and I was once again blown away by the sheer amount of stuff left behind.
In some rooms, it was hard to walk due to the amount of gear on the floor. I am not a fan of walking over people's old memories and possessions.
Now this postcard clearly says 2011 which means the information I previously quoted is bullshit. You can’t believe everything you read on the internet.
This is a bill of sale from 1981. From what I can gather the owner got into financial difficulties around 5 years later. Was this a sale or purchase for £700?
Sad memories left and neglected.
Were they planning on taking the books, why are they tied up that?
Getting out via this potential exit may prove a little difficult.
After 5 minutes or so we could hear noises. There were people at the back of the house, shouting and talking too loudly. I didn’t take much notice and figured they had arrived on an earlier ‘bus’.
A tin of vintage drinking chocolate. You open it with a can opener and there’s no way to re-seal it again. How things have changed.
Why do they have to tip the books all over the floor?. They look much better stacked on the shelf.
Some parts of the house were beginning to look a little derpy.
Our red post boxes have not changed much over the years and are still dotted around the country.
‘the new money’ – the exercises are not completed. Does this mean decimalisation? If so these are from circa 1973.
This looks educational if you can get past that pensive writing.
Why this bill is here is anyone’s guess. It’s a different property but it’s good to see someone actually in credit for once.
I was literally digging items out from under my feet. The number of things to look at was overwhelming.
No this is not 'Eldwick Farm Cottage'. Look at the date, even older than me!
Is this paper really from 1961? It looks unmarked and in amazing condition for something that is 60 years old.
Someone collected newspaper clippings. A thing of the past I would say, although those killers do it all the time. I watch too many movies and series for my own good.
I love the style of fifties advertising!
A rather personal letter dated 1992 to ‘Anne’. By this time the husband and farmer would have been dead.
I struggled to read it due to the handwriting style. The images are high-res enough to zoom in if you really want to be nosey.
Now if that is not straight out of the seventies, then I will eat my own dick. Oops, that’s a little clichéd.
Upstairs had even more goodies. If you would care to dig a little, then more gold would come to the surface.
Items from the 1950’s on the ground, people had walked over them.
Someone or something..., had a little accident in the corner.
Yes, Charles really did have hair once. (...Camilla is the one for me mutters Charles..)
I dug and dug and found this. It’s some kind of game from likely the fifties and never been used by the looks of things.
Many cheques, and all written by the deceased owner. He dished out a lot of money once.
@dizzydiscovery and I climbed through a window and made toward the source of the noise.
Meanwhile, @goblinknackers was lost and in his own world. He did mention to me later he snapped out of the dream, found himself alone, and got the solo jitters; bloody amateur!
The last lot of people had seemingly disappeared though fuck knows how because this one was kind of a way system. There was only one entrance/exit if you get my drift.
‘The House of Neglect’ was hardly photogenic from the outside. Too many trees in the way and the leaves were yet to fall.
The outhouses were a little disappointing. An old record player was lounging around in a barn.
As well as this suitcase that was past its selling by date and eaten by rats.
What a place! I can count the time capsules I have visited on two hands. This one is not even one hundred miles away from where I live.
Long may it remain in deep seclusion, and hopefully forgotten about by all but the most ‘proper’ explorers.

One can only but wonder if they locked the doors possibly planning to return, or simply walked away.
Vandals have had a glorious time in there which is sad to see, hopefully well hidden disappear into the woods never to be found again.
Nice explore thanks @slobberchops

It is quite hidden away, which is good and bad. Nobody knows you are there (bad), and yet it makes it harder to find (good). !WINE

.Oh wow, I know a lot of people who would give a lot of money to get their hands on that old console and try to restore it. I bet it sounded awesome back in the day! So many books! Did these people work in a library or something? This looks like it was a really great find for you given all the stuff!
What old console.. Did you see something I missed? I am thinking Atari! !WINE

The record player all contained in the cabinet. It's a console.
What, you are insisting that people do their own detectivity to find it!! Outrageous!
I always grin when I see "Cattle Market" obviously thinking of an entirely different thing.
I am pretty sure that I had that exact same gloss black enamel paint! It was recommended to me by a guitar shop for a quick fix to my old black Ibanez
Those Cattle Markets I heard of years ago never came true, except 'El Trop' where you could pick up a Cougar or two!
That sounds like exactly the kind of place you could pick up a night Tiger!!!

The history of the owner is sad. So much stuff has been left there though, no wonder it's so popular
!ENGAGE 20
The time-capsule element make them more 'valuable'. Few want to give them away.

That's an interesting one. There were a number of things that took me on a bit of a trip down memory lane.
Really? You never played Beetle Drive? Must have been later than the fifties cuz I remember playing it as a kid.
There was even a plastic version that superceded the pen and paper on eventually.
Honestly.. never. It had that fifties look about the decor. Maybe seventies then.
I recognise that Beetle Drive game. My parents used to do that when hosting fundraiser events for girl guides.
Good fun when there’s a hall full of people going nuts over this frantic dice roll/forfeit game.
Sad to see how many carefully kept possessions there were just left to rot. Especially magazines and new clippings.
Did any of the news clippings have any relation to each other?
I tend to snap them and then look later. I could have spent a few hours there, so much to look at. The game was buried under other stuff. I had to dig it out. Under that was more stuff..., madness!
My friend, how I enjoy your publications. I live each and every one of your adventures.
I also wondered, when will I ever get the opportunity to do something similar? And if I came to find an abandoned house or building, would I have your evalor to enter? I don't know, but I'm sure you would be the first to know. A hug.
Felicidades y que sigas cosechando éxitos!!!!
I would love to see your abandoned findings. Make sure you add the post to the Urban Exploration community, and go with a friend. These places are dangerous.
I tell you that just at this critical moment in the history of my country, it could be that 30% of the houses are sadly abandoned, because there are many Venezuelans who have left everything to emigrate in search of a better future. But since the exodus has been going on for approximately six years, the houses have not yet reached this state of deterioration. But believe me, I am on the alert and when I hear of one that I can enter accompanied of course, I will at least try 😉.

Nicely captured. The problem with this place is there is too much to see and root through!
95% of what you have found I never did, and vice versa. Great to see what I missed
It was perfect for rummagers, one of the best places I have done. I don't see any reports lately, so hopefully it's off the radar. !WINE
