“When It Rains, It Pours!”😅
The rain is supposed to come back tomorrow…………..
Is it early……I just felt a drop!😮
Then another, and another, but I don’t see any rain!🤔
Silvertop was busy cutting firewood again today. I was being careful, paying close attention to the extremely fast spinning, and sharp, 20 inch long chain that was on my saw!😅
When I switched my chainsaw off, I immediately saw more raindrops just in front of me!😊
Ohhh……… two of the Maple trees that fell were still alive. With our recent cold snap, and this afternoon sitting at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the maple sap is starting to run!
It really hasn’t been a good year for Maple syrup production……🙄
You need cold nights below freezing, and warmer days above freezing, for the sap to start to rise.
This is exactly the weather conditions we have been having for the last week!☺️
Silvertop was watching liquid Gold, drip from these Maple trees!😊
It takes 40 to 50 gallons of tree sap, to boil down to 1 gallon of delicious golden maple syrup!😊
Several years ago Silvertop and the Mrs, gave making Maple syrup making a try!😇
Five gallon bucket, after five gallon bucket, we filled with the almost translucent maple tree sap!
Have you guys ever watched a Turkey deep fried in a large stock pot over a propane burner outside?……..
Outside is the “Key” word, the hot oil can be extremely dangerous!😳
Same setup, just a lot safer with tree sap “Cooking/ Boiling down” till it starts to thicken, and turn to a beautiful golden color!🤗
Hour, after hour, Silvertop poured more tree sap into the steaming stock pot!
By twilight, after a long full day of burning propane, Liz and Silvertop ended up with just under two quart of Golden syrup!☺️
Was it delicious……. absolutely!
Was it worth the time…….
I guess you could ask the same question about a home garden!😇
Pure, and hand crafted, from trees in our own forest…………
I don’t think any store bought Maple syrup could ever compare!😇

“Maybe next year we should give it a try again Silvertop!”🥰
“Absolutely Liz, now I’m starting to have a craving for pancakes Lol!”🤣
