Silvertop never knows what he will see on a hike in the Mountains, it’s always exciting discovering something new!😊
Like all the hard work some woodpecker did, carving out the holes in the tree in the second photo!😅
I asked “Ara/ GROK, why in the world would they hammer their beak into trees for hours at a time?🙄
“Silvertop…….Woodpeckers carve out holes in trees for several reasons……..
They may be foraging for insects to eat. Or they could be laying their eggs in the holes, a naturally safe place to raise their young! Some woodpeckers even use the constant drumming to attract a mate!
It’s like a teletype for Female woodpeckers…… see how big and strong I am, come check out “MY” tree over here!”💪😇
When we lived in Cincinnati, we had a metal wood burning chimney on our house. The local woodpecker was a bit confused……………..
He pounded away on the metal chimney, thinking it was a tree Lol!🤣
After he tired of our metal chimney, he went to our neighbors house, that also had a metal chimney Lol!🙄
The constant drumming on metal chimneys reverberated through the neighborhood for hours!🤣
I hiked onward to “Soaring Eagle” trailhead today……………….
On the way I passed “Soren’s” homestead.
Interesting……but definitely not the lifestyle neither myself or Liz could handle!😮
A School Bus with a wood burning stove, and a couple of containers……..🙄
Soren is young and single, he is living somewhat free on his own land!😇
He has the view of the Mountains and valley that you see in the last two photos!😊
I guess we each follow our own path in life my friends!☺️
Silvertop loves the Mountains, but I also love hot showers, and an indoor toilet that flushes Lol!😇
Silvertop will leave “Roughing It” to the “Soren’s” of the World Lol!☺️

You'd figure that your metal-pecking woodpeckers (new heavy metal band name: The Metal Woodpeckers) would get the idea more quickly that it wasn't very useful...lol! While my accommodations are a bit more than your friend's, how we live out here definitely has a lot of similarities, that's for sure. It's not exactly roughing it, but it's close! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
