One thing about people from the Pacific Northwest, is that they are always extremely happy to help you with directions Lol!😇
Even hiking deep in the Mountains, Silvertop has occasionally needed to stop and ask one of our “Local’s” on the trail, for directions !😮
“Liz, I think I know that guy we just passed, from somewhere!🤔
I think he’s a member of the 70’s rock band ZZ Top….. you know the guys with the long beards!”☺️
“Uhhh…… I don’t think so Silvertop, that guy needs an ALL over body shave REALLY, REALLY, Bad Lol!”🥰
It’s always best to be prepared, and cautious, in the back country!
You might stumble across a Black Bear still hibernating……..they can get a bit testy!😳
Cot’s relatives are also on the prowl!
Food tends to become scarce this time of year for these big Cats, and Silvertop doesn’t want to become a new dinner entrée Lol!😺
That “guy” we passed, with the extra large bare feet………………..
I think he’s harmless, he’s been wandering these trails for years!
I think he Loves these Mountains as much or more than Silvertop Lol☺️
Maybe next hike I’ll bring him a Latte………and a razor Lol!🤣😇

Absolutely, being prepared in the back country is key, @silvertop! Running into a black bear waking up from hibernation or a food-hunting big cat can certainly make for an adrenaline-pumping encounter! 😂 Safety first, always. And as for that guy with the large feet, it sounds like he's embraced the mountain life to the fullest—no harm in a little local legend, right? 🏞️ Just make sure Silvertop stays off the menu list! Happy trails and stay safe out there! 😊

Bears aren't very happy to be surprised for sure! And cougars are sneaky, you never see them unless they attack you. So best not to see one! You should grab a sign that says Florida Keys this way! Sure looks like you had some good sun yesterday!
I had thought about a detour on today's hike that would take me over to a very secluded section of the forest........ at the last minute I changed my mind not worth the risk of a cougar attack!😳
