“ Are you Ready to Rumble! “ 😊My Actifit Report Card: June 14 2024
“ Are you ready to rumble! “ 🤗
Cot just stared at Silvertop 😸
“ Everyone’s heading uphill, the weekend is here my boy! “☺️
PEPE was excited to go, if Cot wasn’t Lol!😇🐸
“ OK Cot, we’ll be back soon, you can go back to sleep Lol! “ 😻
If today’s destination looks familiar, it’s because we were hiking the main trail, to get to “Coco Crossing”!🤗
Coco Crossing is a couple of miles deeper into the mountains, a continuous uphill hike.
I always time my hikes, that way I know how long it will take to make it back to civilization!😇
Two and one half hours uphill to the “Crossing”.
You have three trails to choose from at this point. Continue another five miles uphill to the historic log cabin, go straight up a very dangerous trail to the second Gold mine, ( Liz DOESN’T want Silvertop taking this trail 🤔), or take a short easy trail to a nearby mountain stream!😊
With already a couple of hours hiking into the forest today, Silvertop headed to the Mountain stream!😇
The last three photos, don’t do justice to the water power of this stream during winter storms!
A massive wall of boulders, rock, and gravel, completely moved/ relocated the stream bed over twelve feet to one side!😳
They are officially calling this a landslide!
I can only imagine the sound this made, as boulders, and a wall of gravel were carried downstream!😮
Liz thinks that pressure must have built up, and suddenly released to be able to move this stream bed!
Over on the next ridge, another two hiking miles away, a massive landslide broke loose many years ago. Geologically speaking, this large slide is made up of a different rock formation.
It is also off limits to hiking, because this slide disturbed some naturally occurring asbestos!🙄
Just to be safe I limited my walking through the old gravel stream bed…..😇
I crossed through the stream at the location of an old wagon bridge on my trek back downhill.
Built in 1910, all that remained was a sign today…….
I stepped across large boulders that I used as a foot path, it looks like the landslide made a natural path for Silvertop!😇
One and a half hours downhill, making better time, and I was standing at the beginning of the trail.
I watched several cars pulling up……
Half a dozen hikers passed Silvertop and smiled, they were just beginning their journey into the Mountains!😊
“ Enjoy my friends! “ 👍
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike😊

Good to avoid that asbestos. Funny that many people don't realize that it occurs naturally in nature! That must have been a lot of water rumbling down to cause that!
I learned about the power of avalanches in Colorado snowmobiling!
Me and the boys would travel on different machines separate, spaced out, for safety ….. nature can be dangerous!🙄
Do you take the same route back? Or do you go another way?
How do you know if there is asbestos?
Wow,. landslides! You don't want to be caught with that, @silvertop.
!BBH
There are so many trails at the Goldmine @silversaver888.
You can take a different trail every day for a long time and never take the same trail!😊
On the other side of the next ridge, they tested the landslide material after it came down many years ago, and it contains naturally occurring asbestos.
They say it’s isolated to that section of the mountain……..
Many people still hike, nearby, but it’s not worth the health risk !🙄
