“ Time is of the essence!”😇
Afternoon hikes in the Mountains can be a bit surreal this time of year!😮
When you look at the first few photo, you would probably think these were taken at sunset……
These were taken at 1 o’clock in the afternoon!😊
The valley below was obscured by fog and thick clouds!
I crested the ridge top, and headed to one of my favorite hiking trails…..” Soaring Eagle”!😀
Normally this is an easy afternoon hike.
A mixed bag of steep hills, and deep forest, with plenty of time to stop for Silvertop’s numerous photo shoots along the way Lol!😇
When I crossed over to the Eastern side of Sumas Mountain, the sky was starting to clear!
I stopped at the top of the trailhead…..
A thick cloud bank was slowly moving through the valley below.
It’s amazing how different the weather patterns are from the Eastern side to the Western !😮
Silvertop checked his Fitbit for the time…….
Five minutes till three, and I needed to hike back through some very dark forest.
It was time to head back!😮
Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year, Silvertop can’t wait!
Bring back the Sun Lol!🤗
Take a look at the second photo taken at 1 o’clock in the afternoon……….
Then look at the Sun going down in the last photo, taken at 3:45 PM at the same location !😳
Just one more day Lol!😇

I was only able to hike halfway down the trail called soaring eagle because of the short winter day, it was getting dark….
This is just over the ridge top from our house, we live on the western side, this is the eastern side you are looking at !☺️

I'm kind of surprised you haven't gotten much snow yet up that way. I guess you're close enough to the ocean though that it keeps things a little warmer! Hiking in dark clouds sure makes the hike less fun though, that's for sure!

Last Christmas Eve was my long hike to town with cramp on/ chains on my boots to get gas for the generator, !🥶
We had a full out northeaster blizzard!
