Like the first photo, this is what they call an “Estuary”. This is where freshwater meets saltwater!😅
This particular Estuary has an engraved stone on the shoreline, to remember a bit of the history behind this location…………….
It’s hard to believe that this place in 1890 “ smelled like the breath of an elephant” Lol!🤣
My friends this was the Fairhaven Washington city dump!😳
How things change…………………..
Back then they dumped garbage anywhere they wanted, and directly into this waterway !😲
The cleanup took place many years ago, but it’s equally hard to believe that no one tried to stop this back then…………..
Starting with the third photo of a picnic shelter, you get a look at what boulevard Park looks like today.
Trails that meander through forest, and along the Ocean shoreline………….
Decades ago, this was also an industrial waste dumping ground!😲
The City bought this land, and had the foresight to clean it up and turn it into an Ocean side park!🤗
So with the weekend here, and the never ending Sunshine in the Pacific Northwest, make some time to enjoy “Outside”!😎
Whether it’s a Park, or a walk in town, just enjoy my friends, and make sure you watch out for that guy snapping photos Lol!😇

They removed all of the buried garbage, and put this back to a clean waterway!😊

Back then it was probably just an easy place to dump stuff and no one really cared about clean waterways.
Sounds like it… There are other places here where they dumped tons of scrap tin from a cannery, and it looks like an island out in the water!😳
That would be horrible pollution...

I wish I had a photo, someone built a metal sculpture on this “tin” island and it looks like a natural island 😊

It’s very beautiful now, 20 years ago this belonged to Georgia Pacific paper company. It took quite a bit of money and effort to clean it up.
Now everyone can enjoy miles of boardwalk park !😊

Very close to the ocean, and also close to the snow pack on the mountains, that’s what unique about our spot in the northwest, we have both! 😇

I think one of the reasons mountains here in the Philippines do not have snowcaps because we're surrounded by the sea. Indeed, in your place it's rare.

That's true. But I think in Vietnam (not sure), there's snowcapped mountain, and we're in the tropics. It's just that Vietnam is in the mainland of Southeast Asia, while we are in an archipelago.
