Geologically speaking, this is an interesting place as well ………
The hillside the Mrs is standing on in the second photo is sandstone.
Everywhere you walk is sandstone……….
This is one of the problems with the older/ taller buildings in town.
This makes for a very unstable foundation to build on!😲
It does make for some very interesting erosion patterns along the shoreline, from the constant battering from waves!
Back in the 1850’s this was a coal town.
Stories of hundreds of miles of tunnels crisscross under what is now downtown!😮
Most of the maps of these tunnels, were lost in a fire many years ago.
When someone wants to build downtown now days, they pull drilling core samples to be sure there is not a coal mine below!😳

It’s a lovely town to explore with fine dining, gift shops, ice cream shops etc…..
