“Silvertop are you looking at that black spot across the field?”😲
Jan our friend, was hiking today with Liz and Silvertop, and noticed this black spot as well!😮
It’s strange how you can hike past the same trailhead entrance every day.
Then off in the distance, all three of us spot something new, “something out of place” at the same time!🤔
The “ black spot” moved, and turned to watch the three of us!😲
“It’s a Black Bear, do you want to take a detour up ahead and follow this Bear Ladies?”😇
Liz and Jan were not interested in a close encounter today Lol!😬
Silvertop always gets the two types of Bears confused…………
“Liz, so we only have Black Bears on the western side of the Cascade Mountains?”😇
The Brown Bears are the ones with the hump on there backs…….these are also known as Grizzly Bears!😮
Black Bears will stop first, and ask you if you mind having your outbuilding door ripped off………….Lol!😇
Black Bears not so much…….😳
“That was interesting Silvertop, our first Spring sighting!”🤗
The Mrs wanted to continue hiking uphill, away from a Bear that has just emerged from hibernation!
Adam was up at the lumber mill, getting ready to replace the motor with a new/ used motor.
“ Adam just to let you know, we just spotted our first Bear of the season at the clearing below!”
I’ll be on the lookout Silvertop, did it have any Cubs?
Hmmm ………
It is Springtime, a Mother Bear isn’t something you want to get too close to!
They are very protective on their young!😲
Then again, getting too close to ANY Bear isn’t something Silvertop wants to do!
Across the field, that works Lol!😇

You talk about spiders and bears, all I can think about is that milling machine, man they don't make them like they used to... 😁
It is interesting, we have been watching him take western red cedar and turn it into large planks for his Yurt outside deck.
It looks like he’s got a real challenge. He has parts scattered everywhere. 😮

We had one other close encounter with a black bear, several years ago!😲
I have never use my bear spray in a panic situation. I Couldn’t remember how to take the safety off. !😳
After that, I always check the safety every so often !😊
Imagine being charged by a bear and screaming "How do I get this damn safety off!?" Right out of a movie! Smart to check that safety every now and again.
