They say Spring is here……………..
Hmmm……….
The trees are In brilliant color, yet mornings are frosty!🥶
Down in the valley many of the fields are already planted.
Some farmers took advantage of last month’s lack of rain………
This month has been completely the opposite, with cold rain forecast almost every day!😲
They say this has been the coldest, and wettest Spring in years!😅
Silvertop is preparing……………
My 50 Austrian pine trees are ready to plant, yet the ground is extremely muddy!
So today Liz and Silvertop picked up one more necessary item needed for tree planting in the Pacific Northwest……Mulch!😊
If you are a gardener, you already know what Mulch is……………..
With our extreme temperature, and rainfall swings in the summer, “mulching in” young plants can make the difference between good plant survival rates or none!😳
When Silvertop lived in the “High Country of Colorado”, no one knew exactly what “mulch” was!🤔
Large piles of decomposed wood chips and Lodge Pole Pine bark filled the local firewood cutters wood lot.
“How much do you charge for a truckload of mulch my friend?”
“ Silvertop what in the world is “Mulch”?🤔
“ If you want some of the wood chips it’s free if you shovel it yourself!”
That was Colorado……………

A strong wind was blowing down South from Canada, when the Lady started to load my truck……………
Wait for it………….😳
A cloud of fine wood dust covered the loader and the lady inside!😲
I didn’t realize that the loader did not have windows on the side!
Back home Liz needed to roast coffee, while Silvertop unloaded the truckload of mulch……….one shovel at a time!😅
We met up with our friend Jan for a hike up the Tim’s off grid cabin…..
“ Strange weather Honey, we get Sun for an hour or so, then cold rain!”🥶
Back home Silvertop started writing his evening post and struck a match to the kindling in the wood stove………….
“ Wait for it”…………………..😇
With a whoosh, flames swirled behind the glass door!
Spring will be here soon enough …………
Silvertop can “wait for it” Lol!
