A Helping Hand!😊
I hike to the High Trail most days…..
Recently I posted that a wind storm took down an old tree, it fell up against a young Douglas Fir tree. It ripped the bark off one side, and almost landed on this young tree !😲
Up at the lumber mill someone left a long handled tool with a hook on one end.
I asked if anyone knew what it was, and one person was correct it is a “PV”!
I got curious, and I looked up why it is called this……..
It turns out this tool was invented by a blacksmith called Joseph Peavey.😊
Lumberjack’s loved this tool and the name PV stuck!😊
Today I was standing up on top of the ridge looking at the young Fir leaning to one side …………….
Hmmm………..
That PV is a quarter of a mile downhill, and I just climbed to the top!😮
Let’s do this Silvertop………….
I hiked downhill, picked up the PV, and proceeded to hike back uphill to the young Fir tree.
I was able to use the hook and roll the log away from the tree!🤗
These tools are amazing!!!!!
What is the old saying……..
“Work smarter, not Harder!”😇
This tree just needed a helping hand!
This summer it will be growing straight, add it will add two to three feet of new growth!🤗
