So many photos of Silvertop’s hike to the Gold Mine trail yesterday, I wanted to share some more!😊
We passed David today on our hike up to Sumas Mountain, we paused to chat.
“David have you guys hiked the Gold Mine trail?”
“Yes Silvertop, you need to pull up the Historic photo of the dance hall, hotel, and Gold stamping mill, it was massive!”😲

This operation really amazes me, if you pull up the Historical photo, and look to the left side of the photo, you will see a small wooden building. Inside this building, cemented into the solid rock hillside is where the “Gold safe was…… and still is to this day, well over one hundred years later
Investors came from as far as the East Coast to put money into this mining company.
The large hotel featured an Oak dance hall with Female company to encourage investors……….
In the fourth photo you can see across the creek, one of the Gold mines they dynamited into the rock hillside!
We are already planning a return hike for next Month!🤗
This next hike will take us up to one of the log cabins far above the Gold Mine originally built in the 1800s, renovated by a hiking club several years ago!😊

The Gold Mine Trail always provides great historical content and a beautiful country to hike in! It's hard to imagine over 100 years ago, that the people involved in this, brought the timber up to build the buildings via horse and wagon over this rough terrain! This might be a definition for insanity!
