Jane Austen fue una novelista que tiene entre sus novelas grandes obras como Emma o Sentido y Sensibilidad. Tal vez su novela más famosa es Orgullo y prejuicio, de la que ya tiene varias adaptaciones en tv y películas. Hace poco vi esta adaptación del 2005. Su director es Joe Wright.

Jane Austen was a novelist whose novels include great works such as Emma or Sense and Sensibility. Perhaps her most famous novel is Pride and Prejudice, of which she already has several TV and movie adaptations. I recently saw this 2005 adaptation. Its director is Joe Wright.

Sinopsis: En una Inglaterra de fines del siglo XVIII. Elizabeth es una de cinco hermanas, de la familia Bennet. Las mayores han llegado a una edad en la que es necesario conseguir un marido. Es en una fiesta que conocen a Charles Bingley y su amigo Fitzwilliam Darcy. Este primer encuentro comenzará una sucesión de eventos que mostrarán el carácter de los personajes, y les hará enfrentar a su propio orgullo y prejuicios.

Synopsis: In an England of the late eighteenth century. Elizabeth is one of five sisters of the Bennet family. The eldest have reached an age when it is necessary to get a husband. It is at a party that they meet Charles Bingley and his friend Fitzwilliam Darcy. This first meeting will start a succession of events that will show the character of the characters, and will make them face their own pride and prejudices.

Es una historia romántica que muestra una situación legal de esa época, ya que las mujeres no podían heredar, lo que las obligaba a conseguir un marido, antes de que falleciera su padre. Esto genera un comportamiento en los personajes partiendo desde la madre que está totalmente interesada en casar a sus hijas. Las hermanas Bennet, tienen diferentes personalidades y se aproximan a estos eventos con sus propias diferencias. En especial vemos a Elizabeth y su relación con el sr. Darcy, que tienen personalidades que los enfrentan.

It is a romantic story that shows a legal situation of that time, since women could not inherit, which forced them to get a husband before their father died. This generates a behavior in the characters starting from the mother who is totally interested in marrying her daughters. The Bennet sisters have different personalities and approach these events with their own differences. In particular we see Elizabeth and her relationship with Mr. Darcy, who have personalities that confront them.

Hay variados personajes y situaciones que le dan riqueza a la historia. Lo malo es que si bien la película agarra bastante puntos claves del libro, obviamente se deja mucho ya que no puede resumir todos los eventos en 2 horas. Aun así el resultado es bueno en muchas partes del mismo.

There are varied characters and situations that add richness to the story. The downside is that while the movie grabs quite a few key points from the book, it obviously leaves out a lot as it can't summarize all the events in 2 hours. Even so, the result is good in many parts of it.

La fotografía mezclada con el vestuario y los escenarios es increíble, en especial en las escenas de los bailes. La actuación destaca bastante, entre ellos resalto a la pareja protagonista, y a la Sra. Bennet, interpretada por Brenda Blethyn. La música si bien cumple, no resalta en particular.

The cinematography mixed with the costumes and sets is incredible, especially in the dance scenes. The acting is quite outstanding, among them I highlight the leading couple, and Mrs. Bennet, played by Brenda Blethyn. The music, although it complies, does not stand out in particular.

Me ha gustado el resultado final de esta película, se nota el esfuerzo en cada aspecto de la misma. Recomendable.

I liked the final result of this film, you can see the effort in every aspect of it. Recommended.
