La mayoría tenemos una mascota en casa, a la que cuidamos, alimentamos y otros; al final, nos encariñamos y en muchos casos las consideramos parte de la familia. La pregunta en este documental es, cuál sería el caso, si el animal a cuidar fuera un bebe elefante. Estrenada el 2022, siendo su director Kartiki Gonsalves. Acaba de ser nominada al Premio Óscar como mejor documental corto.

Most of us have a pet at home, which we take care of, feed and others; in the end, we become attached to them and in many cases we consider them part of the family. The question in this documentary is, what would be the case, if the animal to take care of was a baby elephant. Released in 2022, the film was directed by Kartiki Gonsalves. It has just been nominated for the Oscar Award for best short documentary.

Sinopsis: Un pequeño elefante llamado Raghu acaba de perder a su familia. El cae en manos de unos dedicados cuidadores. Que se encargaran de él en el campamento de Theppakaduun centro dedicado a rehabilitar vida salvaje en la India.

Synopsis: A baby elephant named Raghu has just lost his family. He falls into the hands of dedicated caretakers. They take care of him at Theppakadu camp, a wildlife rehabilitation center in India.

A pesar de ser un documental corto, de apenas 40 minutos, podremos ver un gran espacio de tiempo, ya que se verá los inicios de la relación con Raghu y sus cuidadores, pero también el desarrollo del animal, festividades, eventos, nuevas incorporaciones y una resolución final; de esa increíble relación, entre un animal y sus padres sustitutos.

Despite being a short documentary, just 40 minutes, we will see a large space of time, as we will see the beginnings of the relationship with Raghu and his caregivers, but also the development of the animal, festivities, events, new additions and a final resolution; of this incredible relationship between an animal and its surrogate parents.

El tono es bueno, pero aun así entendido el dilema y el contexto, ya poco hay que ver salvo la relación diaria captada en cámaras. Es interesante ver como hay una especie de simbiosis entre los humanos y el elefante para que esa relación funcione.

The tone is good, but even with the dilemma and context understood, there is little to see except the day-to-day relationship captured on camera. It is interesting to see how there is a kind of symbiosis between the humans and the elephant to make that relationship work.

Las cámaras muestran mucho del día a día, pero también no dejan mostrar mucho de la belleza natural en esa zona de la India. Me hubiera interesado ver un poco de más entrevistas a otras personas. La parte final de Raghu jugando con los niños es hermosa, memorable.

The cameras show a lot of the day to day life, but they also don't show much of the natural beauty in that part of India. I would have been interested in seeing a bit more interviews with other people. The final part of Raghu playing with the children is beautiful, memorable.

Si te interesa ver como un bebe elefante es rescatado y rehabilitado, este documental lo muestra de la mejor manera.
