A mi me gustan los juegos abstractos, entre ellos mi favorito es el Go. Sin embargo; de niño me entusiasmaba bastante el ajedrez, es por ello que este título ya me llamaba bastante la atención por su temática, así que le di una oportunidad. Estrenada el 2013. Siendo su director Jake Goldberger.

Sinopsis: Eugene Brown es un aficionado al ajedrez que acaba de salir de la cárcel. Con una mentalidad de querer salir adelante, trata de mejorar su situación laboral y familiar. Es en ese proceso que acaba siendo el supervisor de unos jóvenes escolares revoltosos, que les acaba animando a formar un club de ajedrez para reformar su mentalidad y enfocarlos en la vida.

Synopsis: Eugene Brown is a chess fan who has just been released from prison. With a mentality of wanting to get ahead, he tries to improve his work and family situation. It is in this process that he ends up being the supervisor of some unruly young schoolchildren, who ends up encouraging them to form a chess club to reform their mentality and focus on life.

Una feel good movie, en donde se muestra un caso de la vida real, en que un ex convicto logra cambiar la mentalidad de muchos jóvenes, usando el ajedrez como medio. Es una historia bastante lineal sin muchas sorpresas, pero con lo justo logra gustar y generar entusiasmo por ver el final de esta historia.

A feel good movie, where a real life case is shown, in which an ex-convict manages to change the mentality of many young people, using chess as a means. It is a fairly linear story without many surprises, but with just enough to please and generate enthusiasm to see the end of this story.

Se hace mucho hincapié en que el ajedrez sirve como medio para no solo pensar en tus futuras jugadas en el juego, sino en la vida. Que en la vida hay reglas y hay que aprenderlas, para poder jugar bien con ellas. Es bastante interesante como desarrolla esos símiles. Por otro lado, estas películas muestran como es de necesarios los guías para las mentes jóvenes, cuando tienen dudas sobre su presente y futuro.

Much emphasis is placed on the fact that chess serves as a means to not only think about your future moves in the game, but in life. That in life there are rules and you have to learn them, in order to play well with them. It's quite interesting how he develops those similes. On the other hand, these films show how necessary guides are for young minds, when they have doubts about their present and future.

La actuación del joven Malcolm Mays como Tahime destacaba bastante, de lo mejor del título. Se nota que es una producción de bajo presupuesto, pero que no se nota que le falten cosas.

The performance of young Malcolm Mays as Tahime was quite outstanding, one of the best of the title. You can tell it's a low budget production, but you can't tell it's lacking things.

En general, esta película es entretenida a secas, y creo que cumple el objetivo de sentirte bien viéndola.

Overall, this film is dryly entertaining, and I think it fulfills the feel-good purpose of watching it.
