He comenzado a ver películas de tops de las mejores películas de todos los tiempos. Esta es una que sobresale en FilmAffinity. Es de procedencia española. Fue estrenada en 1963, siendo director Luis García Berlanga.

Sinopsis: Jose Luis trabaja en la funeraria, con el sueño de irse a Alemania para convertirse en mecánico; sin embargo, por azares de la vida, conoce a Amadeo, quien es verdugo, y a su hija Carmen. Este encuentro le traerá grandes cambios a su futuro.

Synopsis: Jose Luis works in the funeral home, with the dream of going to Germany to become a mechanic; however, by the vagaries of life, he meets Amadeo, who is an executioner, and his daughter Carmen. This encounter will bring great changes to his future.

La trama mostrará como Jose Luis acabará siendo arrastrado por un futuro que no desea del todo o no pudiera cambiar. A su vez, muestra un poco de la profesión de verdugo que todavía existía en España, y como esta era vista negativamente por la sociedad.

The plot will show how Jose Luis will end up being dragged by a future that he does not want or could not change. At the same time, it shows a little of the profession of executioner that still existed in Spain, and how it was seen negatively by society.

Si bien tiene un inicio un tanto lento, los eventos comienzan a sucederse rápido. Hay bastante humor negro y satirico; a su vez, muestra criticas a un estado burocratico y siniestro. Los símiles del final son excelentes. Tras lo anterior, solo puedo decir que fue bastante entretenido e interesante de ver, atrapante.

While it has a somewhat slow start, events begin to unfold quickly. There is a lot of black humor and satire; at the same time, it shows criticism of a bureaucratic and sinister state. The similes at the end are excellent. After the above, I can only say that it was quite entertaining and interesting to watch.

En la actuación destacó el trabajo de Jose Isbert como Amadeo, su trabajo es de lo mejor de la película. La producción es buena, pero me pregunta cómo saldría con los presupuestos actuales.

In the acting, Jose Isbert's work as Amadeo was outstanding, his work is one of the best in the film. The production is good, but I wonder how it would turn out with today's budgets.

Entiendo luego de verla por que tiene un ranking tan alto. Bastante recomendable.
