Uno de los videojuegos que más me han gustado tras probarlo en los últimos años, ha sido The Witcher 3. Un juego que nos muestra un mundo medieval, que mezcla magia, historias tétricas y grandes personajes. Es por ello, y saber que ese videojuego se basa en una serie de libros, es que me he animado a comenzar a leerlos. Es una colección de 9 libros escrita por Andrzej Sapkowski. En muchas listas, se recomienda comenzar con el título que reseño hoy.
One of the video games that I have liked the most after trying it in recent years, has been The Witcher 3. A game that shows us a medieval world, which mixes magic, dark stories and great characters. That is why, and knowing that this video game is based on a series of books, is that I have encouraged me to start reading them. It is a collection of 9 books written by Andrzej Sapkowski. In many lists, it is recommended to start with the title I am reviewing today.
Sinopsis: Geralt de Rivia es un brujo. El tiene la capacidad de solucionar diversos problemas que involucren monstruos, entre ellos estriges, dragones y otros tipos. En su travesía se encontrará con diversas historias y personajes, que harán su profesión más variopinta, a la vez que irá reflexionando sobre el verdadero mal.
Synopsis: Geralt of Rivia is a witcher. He has the ability to solve various problems involving monsters, among them striges, dragons and other types. In his journey he will meet different stories and characters, which will make his profession more colorful, while he will be reflecting on the true evil.
Este libro no es una historia continua, sino una colección de historias cortas, entre ellas una más largas que incluyen cada una un trabajo particular del brujo, y otras que incluyen sus descansos o recuperaciones mientras dialoga con otros personajes.
This book is not a continuous story, but a collection of short stories, among them a longer one that includes each one a particular job of the witcher, and others that include his breaks or recoveries while he dialogues with other characters.
Geralt es un brujo que ya ha visto de todo y que tras muchos trabajos siente que más allá de los monstruos, son los humanos el verdadero problema de muchas situaciones y el mal que reside en ellos.

En cada trabajo de Geralt iremos conociendo el mundo en que se encuentran los personajes, uno donde hay monstruos, hechiceros, rituales, reyes, etc; el trabajo de Geralt que si bien es demandado se encuentra en decadencia, debido a que ese mundo se encuentra en cambio. Los diálogos y las situaciones en que se encuentra el brujo, tienen bastante tono sarcástico y cínico, pero a la vez, se trata de resolver el problema del día. Esa mezcla de sombrío con aventuras mágicas, da buen resultado.
In each of Geralt's jobs we will get to know the world in which the characters find themselves, one where there are monsters, rituals, kings, etc.; Geralt's job, although in demand, is in decline, due to the fact that the world is changing. The dialogues and the situations in which the witcher finds himself, have quite a sarcastic and cynical tone, but at the same time, it is about solving the problem of the day. This mixture of somberness with magical adventures gives a good result.
En este libro también encontraremos otros personajes conocidos de la saga como Jaskier o Yennefer. Mis historias favoritas en este primer libro son “El mal menor” y “El último deseo”.
In this book we will also find other known characters of the saga as Jaskier or Yennefer. My favorite stories in this first book are "The Lesser Evil" and "The Last Wish".
Tras este primer libro, se nota el buen hacer del autor para crear este peculiar mundo. Planeo seguir leyendo el resto de la saga. Si te gusta el videojuego o las historias fantásticas sombrías, debes leerlo. Recomendable.
