En los últimos años el drama del fentanilo ha cobrado mucha relevancia, debido a la gran cantidad de adictos que ha creado en todo el mundo, especialmente en USA. Esta película abarca ese tema desde el ángulo de la avaricia, y como muchas personas trataron de sacar provecho del dolor ajeno. Estrenada hace poco en Netflix, siendo su director David Yates.
In recent years the drama of fentanyl has become very relevant, due to the large number of addicts it has created around the world, especially in the USA. This film covers that topic from the angle of greed, and how many people tried to profit from the pain of others. Recently released on Netflix, being its director David Yates.
Sinopsis: Liza Drake es una madre separada que cuida a su hija, y que pasa por apuros económicos. Obtiene una oportunidad para escapar de ello, cuando conoce a Pete Brenner, quien le logró ubicar como una representante de ventas de una farmacéutica, enfocada en medicamentos para el dolor. Ese será el comienzo de una carrera que poco a poco la avaricia, generará adictos entre sus clientes.
Synopsis: Liza Drake is an estranged mother caring for her daughter, who is struggling financially. She gets a chance to escape from it, when she meets Pete Brenner, who manages to place her as a sales representative for a pharmaceutical company, focused on pain medication. That will be the beginning of a career that little by little, greed will generate addicts among her clients.
Es una historia con bastante comedia, incluso un tanto cruel; pero que logra mostrar un poco como una empresa por la avaricia, usará mecanismo poco éticos para no solo conseguir más clientes, sino jugar con las vidas de los mismos. Lo original me parece es mostrar el programa de oradores, con lo que se convencía a médicos de recetar sus medicinas.
It is a story with a lot of comedy, even a bit cruel; but it manages to show a bit how a company for greed, will use unethical mechanisms to not only get more customers, but to play with the lives of the same. What I think is original is to show the program of speakers, with which doctors were convinced to prescribe their medicines.
Tiene un final predecible y de alguna manera, se siente muy parecida a otras historias de estafas o empresas inescrupulosas, como si siguiera una fórmula. Al ser una historia inventada en su mayoría creo que pudieron probar más cosas para la trama. Aun así, acaba siendo entretenida y pocas veces se siente pesada de ver.
It has a predictable ending and somehow feels very similar to other stories of scams or unscrupulous companies, as if it followed a formula. Being a mostly made up story I think they could have tried more things for the plot. Still, it ends up being entertaining and rarely feels heavy to watch.
Hay cierto intento de mezclar lo que se cuenta con entrevistas de los personajes, pero no veo que aporte mucho, es algo que se pudieron guardar. La actuación es correcta, pero ninguno destaca en particular.
There is a certain attempt to mix what is told with interviews of the characters, but I don't see that it contributes much, it's something they could have kept to themselves. The acting is correct, but no one stands out in particular.
Al final, es una película que sirve para conocer un poco del tema que trata, y entretenerse sin muchas pretensiones.
In the end, it is a film that serves to know a little of the subject it deals with, and entertain without many pretensions.
