La fuente de la película que reseñaré hoy, proviene de una serie de libros del autor Frank Herbert. Después de verla, mi interés por leer esa saga ha aumentado mucho. El título fue estrenado el 2021, siendo el director Denis Villeneuve.

The source of the movie I will review today, comes from a series of books by author Frank Herbert. After watching it, my interest in reading that saga has greatly increased. The title was released in 2021, the director being Denis Villeneuve.

Sinopsis: En un futuro lejano, la casa Atreides acaba de ser designada por el imperio para gobernar Arrakis, un planeta que contiene un recurso muy valioso, la especia. Este movimiento le traerá problemas con la casa Harkonnen, otra gran fuerza del imperio. El heredero de su casa, Paul Atriedes, tendrá que sobrellevar esos problemas sumado a su propio don, con habilidades físicas y mentales poderosas.

Synopsis: In the distant future, House Atreides has just been appointed by the Empire to rule Arrakis, a planet that contains a very valuable resource, the spice. This move will bring him into trouble with House Harkonnen, another major force in the empire. The heir to his house, Paul Atriedes, will have to cope with these problems in addition to his own gift, with powerful physical and mental abilities.

Esta película tiene bastantes apartados bien trabajados, desde la producción hasta la música, pero es la trama la que asombra. Un contexto que mezcla no solo batallas entre poderosas casas, sino el mundo de Arrakis, un desierto que habitan los Fremen y unos monstruos en forma de gigantes gusanos de arena. Si bien hay diversos personajes, creo que es Paul Atriedes y sus capacidades psíquicas lo que llamará más la atención.

This film has quite a few well-worked sections, from the production to the music, but it is the plot that amazes. A context that mixes not only battles between powerful houses, but the world of Arrakis, a desert inhabited by the Fremen and monsters in the form of giant sandworms. While there are several characters, I think it is Paul Atriedes and his psychic abilities that will draw the most attention.

Esta película que es la primera de una trilogía, comienza presentando el contexto, a los personajes con sus motivos y particularidades, etc; esto le toma más de una hora, pero hecho esos temas, el interés por saber que pasara va en bastante aumento. Lamentablemente el final es un poco anticlimático, pero no deja de ser un gran primer vistazo para lo que se viene.

This film, which is the first of a trilogy, begins by introducing the context, the characters with their motives and peculiarities, etc; this takes more than an hour, but once these themes are done, the interest in knowing what will happen is increasing. Unfortunately the ending is a bit anticlimactic, but it's still a great first glimpse of what's to come.

La producción es excelente, efectos especiales bastantes convincentes, hay escenas en el desierto impactantes. En el cast, si bien bastantes actores logran personificar de excelente manera su papel, como Timothée Chalamet interpretando a Paul Atreides, otros me dejan dudas, ya que recuerdan demasiado a sus anteriores trabajos. La música es bien particular, creando un escenario envolvente.

The production is excellent, the special effects are quite convincing, and there are some impressive desert scenes. In the cast, although many of the actors are excellent in their roles, such as Timothée Chalamet playing Paul Atreides, others leave me with doubts, since they remind me too much of their previous works. The music is very particular, creating an enveloping scenario.

Al final, no me quedan dudas de que es una muy buena película, y que aumenta mi interés para completar la trilogía como de leer la saga de libros. Muy recomendable.

In the end, I have no doubt that it is a very good movie, and that it increases my interest to complete the trilogy as well as to read the book saga. Highly recommended.
