Your Circle of Choice
Most times whenever we talk about peer pressure, we always make it sound like it's always a bad thing when in reality, there can be good kings of peer pressure. It all just depends on the kind of people you have around you, in your life, and if you choose to listen to them.
A good example of one of those moment where peer pressure has actually influenced someone positively, was the one time I had decided to not take alcohol for a month. Although there wasn't really that much of pressure in it, but after a friend of mine had celebrated his birthday one time like that, and we all drank some alcohol and got high, I had woken up the next morning and just decided to not take alcohol any more, or at least for a month.
But rather than do it alone, I had told one of my really close friends about it, this is the one person I always go out to get a drink with whenever we feel like it. The moment I told him about my plan, he too had subscribed to it and had agreed to go a month too without alcohol.
It wasn't entirely a surprise to me because I kind of knew he would like to join me in the challenge, but the fact that I suggested it to him and made him understand how serious I was about it, made him also agree to it. So personally, I feel that's a very good example of one of the good effects of peer pressure.
They've been a lot of scenarios when I've either impacted in my friends lives positively, and they've also impacted in my life positively too. Some of these scenarios are things that I can't write it because they're personal stuff and not things that should be written out. But yeah, I'm living proof that peer pressure can either be bad or good, it all just depends on your circle.
