You don't know what you have until....

I have written multiple times on here on how I've always been incharge of my hostel security and the many challenges I've faced due to me being reasonable and trying to please everyone. Someone had even called me "soft" which didn't go down well with me.

Anyways, my plans for this new year had been to move to a new hostel to start over due to the many issues I was having here but I had changed my mind at the last minute due to the fact that I might be traveling to go serve my country for a year and so I decided to remain at my old hostel. But you see, if there was one thing I wasn't going to do, it was remaining in charge of the hostel security, so the first thing I had done this year was to tender my resignation.

I had approach my hostel president and told him of my plans of no longer wanting to be the one in charge of the hostel security because of the stress that came with it and also the many problems that came with the position. Being in charge of the hostel security has seen me quarrel with a lot of the people here and being the kind of guy that I was, fighting with anyone was the last thing on my list.

Anyways, someone else had taken up the position and everything was going smooth for about a week until last night when I heard some commotion downstairs. It turned out that the new guy in charge of the lodge hostel had some misunderstanding with someone else concerning the gate and they ended up exchanges some punches. The whole thing came as a shock to everyone else but not me because I understood the frustration the new guy was going through.

It turned out the new guy in charge of the gate has a short fuse and can't tolerate half of the things I tolerated during my tenure, so of course they were side comments about how they miss me and wished I was still in charge of the hostel security. The whole thing just kind of reminds me of the saying "you don't know what you have until you miss it" because I could tell that the majority of them were wishing I was still in charge of the hostel security because I didn't always follow the rules and would compromise just to try and satisfy everyone.

Sadly, I have no plans on going back because that was one of the most stressful job I've done in my life and I have no plans on going through that same stress anytime soon again.

"Nobody understands the value of teeth until losing teeth ". It's matching with the situation you described. Whatever, you are not in the position and you should not worried about it too much. Let them miss you. 🙂

And that's what I plan on doing, not worrying about it 😂

It is a fact that when a person is living on such a place where human life and human things are not safe, then a person can never live a peaceful life there, so one should go to that place where But these two things are safe. It is good that you have gone there and told all your problems to the owner.
