War Scatter

I know that the lot of you are already confused because of the title of this post but trust me you guys won’t be after you’re done reading it. War scatter was one of my most favorite games I played as a kid and though I feel it has a proper name, this is what I, my friends and everyone at the place where I grew up called it.

So war scatter was basically a game played in groups. It’s a game of two teams. You see before we start playing war scatter, we have to make sure we have some things covered, one of those things is a good location and then some guns. A good location would be an incomplete building with a lot of rooms that we all can hide in and the guns were of course fake ones. Our gun can be anything, toy guns, sticks, anything that gave the idea of a gun.

We would divide ourselves into two teams and then run into the building to go hide while quietly searching for the members of the other team. It was basically a situation of police and thief. We would look for the other team and then shoot them to death by imitating gun sounds with our mouth. Whenever we saw a member of the other team, we would point our gun at them and shout kpa, the kpa being the sound of our gun.

I remember I was so in love with that game that I had to bring out the creative genius in me and created some sort of mirror gadget for myself. The mirror gadget was two mirrors that I taped to a broomstick. I made it in such a way that when I’m in hiding and wants to check if any of the members of the other team were nearby, I would bring out the mirror and extend it by holding the broom and looking at the reflection of the mirror in other to avoid being seen by anyone, it was next level genius.

I and my friends played war scatter until we became too big for it and then we stopped. Unfortunately, when I look at the young generations of today, I feel like they’re missing a lot because none of them play anymore, everyone just wants to grow up so fast, not knowing how important childhood memories can be.

So yeah, that is my most favorite childhood game.
