Wakey wakey

Today was one of those days where I felt so lazy and just decided to sleep and not bother doing anything at all. I had slept till about 2pm this afternoon and when I finally woke up and checked the time on my phone, I instantly remembered my dad and what he would had said if I had slept that late at home.

My dad is one of those people who believes that a man (I say "a man" because he and my mom only had male kids) should be up as early as possible even if you have nothing planned for that day.

I remember when I had just finished high school and didn't have a job or anything, so I'd stay home all day doing nothing. Most of the time I would stay up late at night seeings movies because I knew I had nothing planned the next day, so I could sleep till whenever but my dad always had different plans for me.

I'd go to bed probably by 3am only to be woken by my dad by 9am the next day. Now if he was waking me up to go do something for him, that would be understandable but that was mostly never the case. Most times he would just wake me up just for the sake of being awake because I'm a man. He would always say that there are people out there who are already bursting their ass trying to earn a living under the hot sun and here I was, still sleeping.

And even though he's right, I feel he just needs to understand that not everybody is a morning person, some of us just can't help it but start our day in the afternoon or late in the morning. I do wonder what my dad would say now that I mostly start my day very late in the morning.

I mean I want to say that hopefully in the future I would learn to wake up a little bit earlier but even I know that might not be happening because there's something about that morning sleep, it just hits different.
