Until I'm Arrested
Like I've said countless times, I like to overthink things, especially scenarios that have come and gone, and this is probably because doing that helps me sometimes to see things from multiple angles and gives me a better understanding of that situation entirely.
Well, I have another police story to tell you guys today (I really should turn this into a series and name it “Until I'm Arrested”), and this one happened exactly twenty-four hours ago.
You see, yesterday, I wanted to cook some noodles and decided it would be a good idea to add some suya to it (it's meat prepared in a kind of way), so I had to go buy the suya, but just before I left, I had stopped at my friend's room and told him where I was going to. The reason I did this was because it was almost 10pm tonight, and I knew it wasn't a good idea to leave home without informing anyone.
After I told him of my intention to go get the suya, he asked me to wait for him because he wanted to tag along, which I immediately agreed to.
On our way to the shop where it's been sold, we had both left our phones at home, but I had a torch with me. So we both had decided to follow a shortcut that wasn't exactly safe, especially by that time of the night, but we had nothing on us except the money for the suya and the torch I had with me, and if anyone wanted to rob us of those, it wasn't going to hurt much.
Well, as we were walking, just as we were about to turn a corner that would take us out of the shortcut and into the main road, a dude in a hat walked past us, and he uttered some words that immediately turned me around and made me head straight home. He said, “There is police at that corner.”
Apparently, the police were waiting at that corner that we were about to turn to, and they were arresting everyone that walked out of that corner without asking any questions.
When we turned back, heading back home, the guy who told us about the police had made another statement that has refused to leave my mind till today, hence the reason for my overthinking. He said, “He was surprised that they had arrested him,” which also was a surprise to me too, but when I think about it, I think that the reason those police officers hadn't seen it and arrested him was because God wanted him to warn us about their presence.
You see, if he had gotten arrested, then no one would have been there to warn us, and then we would have gotten arrested too. But him not getting arrested meant us not getting arrested too.
Now I might be wrong, and as usual, this might just be me thinking too much, but the more I think of it, the more sense it makes to me.
