Under The Anointing

Somehow, we get the craziest thought while we're in the bathroom. I don't know why that happens but it's almost like our brains tends to relax and just think far and wide when that water touches our head.

Well today's bathroom inspiration came a little bit differently as I almost hit my head on the floor when I slipped, but luckily for me, I was fast enough to hold on to something which prevented me from falling.

Then the inspiration came.

According to Google, Nigeria has the biggest church in Africa and this goes to tell you how we Nigerians don't play with our churches. But why am I suddenly talking about churches, you may ask.

Well you see, the fall that almost happened at the bathroom suddenly jogged my memory to many years ago, when I attended this particular church with my family. It was during the deliverance section and the pastor was laying hands on people while praying for them.

Most of the people he touched fell to the floor, while shaking like they had convulsion or were possessed by some evil spirit, if not both. Now all my life in church, never have I had the man of God lay his hands on me and this was probably because I was always invincible, but I guess that day was different.

The man of God walked towards me and at first I had thought he was going for someone behind me so I tried stepping out of his way and that was when he held me. He placed his hand on my head and started to speak in tongues and pray.

Now, the next thing that was suppose to happen was me falling to the floor, but my mom and dad knew I've never had convulsion before in my life, so falling to the floor would mean one thing, that I was possessed by evil spirits, and the last thing I wanted was my siblings looking at me like I was some evil wizard on our way home, so I said nope.

I placed my legs firmly on the floor and made sure this body stood up straight.

The man of God must have noticed because he started to wiggle my head, almost like he was trying to make me dizzy to throw me off balance but nope, this boy was going nowhere.

So I made my stance firmer. I wasn't even going to let room for a stagger because that might give him more motivation to keep on making me dizzy.

When he noticed that nothing was going to happened, he finally left me and went to the next person who wasted no time to start convulsing. One look at my siblings and the smile on their faces told me they all understood what had just happened.

"Maybe it's the spirit of stubbornness they were trying to cast out" one of them had whispered and I had smiled for a second before immediately keeping a straight face. I knew I wasn't out of the woods yet and a smile from me could anger the man of God which will bring him back to continue where he left off.

The service eventually came to an end and we all went home.
