Today wasn't for the thief..

About two days ago, I had made a post titled everyday for the thief and one day for the owner. In that post, I basically was telling you guys about my hostel president who, ever since he was placed in that position, was mismanaging the hostel funds. And how we had gotten fed up and called for a meeting to know how to go about the issue, a meeting he had kicked against.

Anyways, during that meeting which happened on saturday, we all had agreed to give him up till Monday to produce the remaining funds he had with him, or dance to whatever tune we played for him.

Well, today happens to be Monday and just like I predicted in that last post, he had held on to that money, probably because he's the greediest guy that I've ever known and would want to see us do our worse before he surrenders.

Anyways, during the early hours of this morning, while I still was in bed enjoying my sleep (I'm not a morning person), someone had come knock on my door and asked me to come outside because my presence was needed.

Apparently the guys had made good on their threat and had gone to report the case to the community vigilante group. This group are in charge of handling cases like this and would sometimes hand the case over to the police if it becomes a serious case.

So they had reported him to the vigilante group and two men from the group had come to pick him (the hostel president) up from his home and walked him down to their office. And seeing how I was the guy with the records of the hostel funds (I'm my hotel's secretary), my presence were needed so that I could tell them how much he owe us.

When we got to their office, I was asked to present the case to them, which I did, explaining how the president had been mismanaging the funds, then he too was given the chance to defend himself, which he did poorly because he obviously had nothing good to say...a thief is a thief.

At the end of the day, he was ordered to release all of the money in his possession, which he did right there in everyone's presence and he was instructed that henceforth, he wasn't permitted to have the hostel funds in his possession for more than twenty-four hours, he must release the funds to the hostel treasurer within twenty-four hours.

And that was it. The meeting was over and we went home feeling excited because we had achieved our goal, or part of it. The only thing left is to kick him out of that position but unfortunately for us, he was appointed, not elected. So we'd have to wait for the owner of the hostel to come around so we can also present our case to her and have her either appoint someone else, or we elect someone else.

But at the main time, we just have to be contented with the win we had today.

It was like a movies 😅. I used to see that kind of incident in movies and now I became sure that movies were made based on real life incident. Congratulations to win the case.
