There is Always an Option

Growing up as a child, I've always been one of those kids who was of the opinion that there is always a choice, so whenever I was seeing a movie and I saw someone who was playing the role of a prostitute, telling another character the reason they had to go into prostitution was because they didn't have a choice, I never really agreed with them. But you see, although I may had been right that there is always a choice, what I didn't know then was that the fact that there is a choice doesn't mean that it's a good choice, or a better one than the one you settled for.

Some few months ago, I was at my hostel sitting down outside and just minding my business when I noticed a guy being harassed by a much more bigger guy. I had no idea what problem both men had with each other but all I knew was that the bigger guy had collected the little guy's phone and had refused to give it back to him unless he paid him some amount of money.

Watching the whole thing, it was obvious that the little guy had done nothing wrong to the bigger guy and that the bigger guy was only harassing the little guy because he could and because he knew the little guy was going to do nothing about the whole thing.

How that whole issue ended between the both of them, I have no idea but all I knew was that some few days later, the little had gone ahead and joined a cult group. How I knew he had joined a cult group was pretty simple, he started to dress different and began wearing certain things that someone who wasn't in a cult group wouldn't wear in a student area dominated by cultists.

Without being told, I automatically knew the reason he had gone ahead to join that group was so that no one would oppress him the way the big guy did some few days ago, and I knew this because that happens to be the reason why a lot of people do agree to join these groups, for protection.

Now I know that you guys would say that rather than joining a dangerous cult group, that he could have explored other options because there is always an option, which is true but what other options were there.

If you ask me, it was either he reported the big guy to the authorities or he endured and just continued getting harassed by the big guy until he was done schooling. Now if he had done any of those, it would have ended badly for the little guy because reporting the big guy to the authorities was only going to get him arrested for a few days and then released, then what happens next? The little guy would be in trouble.

So although I do not agree with the option he finally went with, the little guy must have weighed all of his options and decided that the only thing he couod do, that wasn't only going to stop the big guy from harassing him, but also stop other big guys from even thinking about it, was to go join a dangerous cult group that was more than ready to offer him the protection he needed.

Hmmm

It's unfortunate that the little guy was being harassed but then, joining a cult group because of that isn't a great choice
There are choices that is just more terrible than what would have befall someone
Lol

He obviously didn't make the best decision but to him, that was what was best for him at the time. The truth is that he had to get rid of that guy one way or the other, and maybe leaving the area because of that one guy wasn't on the table so he went for errmmm "the next best thing"...
