The Teacher and His Favorite Pupil
Back in primary school when I was in primary four, I had this class teacher who was nothing but the devil himself. This man derived pleasure in torturing us, his pupils. He would organize random quiz and then flog the living daylight out of us if we failed any. I remember that the only time we were happy was when it was time for us to go home from school.
Unfortunately all complains to our parents fell on deaf ears, my parents in particular weren't the type to visit my school for anything, and at first I liked it because whenever I got into trouble and was asked to bring my parents to school the next day, my eldest brother was usually the one who filled in that role for them and seeing how he's my guy, I never really got punished for anything but I digress.
My teacher back then, even for the slightest of mistakes would always punish everyone of us, all of us except for one girl. His excuse for not hitting her was because he didn't want her screaming, meanwhile we all knew he favored her because she was the most brilliant amongst us, so she was the one he liked the most, his favorite pupil.
Anyways, I'm not telling you guys this story to relive the horrors of my childhood but I'm saying it because for some weird reasons, today's contest topic kinda reminds me of the class teacher and his favorite student.
Now the question for today's contest is pretty direct and so is the answer, do I think all workers should earn equal pay? No, I do not. To be honest, it's crazy that is even something that is up for debate. All workers shouldn't earn equal pay because they all don't work the same job.
If you ask me, I'd say that everyone should be paid based on how much work they do and how important their job is. So people like health workers, teachers, police officers and firefighters (to mention a few) should be at the top of that list because these are the kind of people whose jobs really matters. Unfortunately those kind of jobs don't get the big bucks, but instead it's the entertainers, the actors and athletes that do.
Now I'm not saying that these people don't put in a lot of work in what they do, but compared to police men and healthcare workers, their job really isn't that important is it? I mean I can go ten years without having to watch a football match or a basketball match, but ten years without a doctor then you pray you don't get sick.
So yeah that is my take on the topic, all jobs doesn't deserve equal pay, some deserves to be paid a lot more higher than the rest due to the importance of their job and how hard they work, and for those who choose not to work hard, they shouldn't be favored just like the little girl got favored by my teacher, they should be punished by getting lesser pay or in my case, getting ass whooped.

I don't know why, but whenever I am reading your blogs, I feel like I am reading about myself. My parents were not also very habitual in going to their kid's school etc. I also experienced a couple of bad teachers that love to hurt student with the sticks and one even broke the stick when trying to hit the student.

When it comes to the conversation of teachers hitting students with their cane, I have multiple stories because over here, they believe the best way to discipline a child is to flog them.
Thanks for the support.
Yes that's right everyone should receive that amount of payment what they deserve and it should be based on ability, effort and position.
Exactly.. And also based on how important their work is.
I understand your perspective, and it's clear that equal pay for all workers might not always be practical or fair, given individual circumstances and performance. It's a complex issue that depends on various factors, including the nature of the work, skills, and contributions. Thanks for sharing your childhood experience, even if it reminds you of this topic.
Well you're right. It is indeed an issue that has to be judged on many factors but just looking at the basics and we can tell that some jobs that get high pay are really not important jobs.
You are very correct
Hahaha
That's a stupid reason. He does not want her to scream, lol
Yes ooh every worker cannot get the same pay
We get paid based on our work
It was a stupid reason but we were in primary four so we basically were just kids and he didn't care because he knew we couldn't do anything or just were too scared to.
There was a time when beating was allowed in schools. Now there is a lot of voice in the world against the act and things have changed to a greater extent even in developing countries.
People in entertainment industry earn a whole lot of money while the ones spending a whole lot of their lives in serving humanity have a lower income. It hurts.
Equal pay doesn't make sense to me either. Nevertheless, the pay should match the efforts and skills.
In Nigeria, beating a child with cane is still considered one of the best for of punishments.. I don't think anyone would be speaking against that anytime soon. In some cases, the teachers even instruct the students to buy cane while coming to school and if you don't, you get flogged for it.
It's crazy but it's normal here.
Such teachers deserve to be beated with cane themselves 😠.
I could not agree more.
Thanks for reading.
See how you related this topic to your experience in school those days... yeah equal pay is an unfair treatment that will only bring about low productivity on the parts of employees knowing that no matter what, they will still receive their pay. Workers should earn based on their productivity
Lol. I honestly don't know why the topic reminded me of primary school but it did.. And yeah you're right, equal pay will only encourage laziness because it doesn't matter if you work hard or not, you're getting paid the same anyway.
Equal payment is indirectly imploring or encouraging inequality.
It will cause imbalabce while trying to balance the payments of professions
And will also affect productivity in work because no one would want to put in their best since they would get paid anyway.
Yeah this is true. Some professions will have low productivity at some point.
