The First Drag
My dad will always say that if you're not interested in what they're selling, then you shouldn't stand there and let them try to talk you into buying it, just leave.
I have this friend of mine who I met in school. We had met during my year as a freshman and we've been friends ever since. I and this friend happen to live in the same hostel and unfortunately, there were also guys who abused all sort of hard drugs in the hostel too. I remember writing about how the smell of weed and other things they smoked was always affecting me. Luckily for me, majority of them left and we only have a few of them around now.
Well, while these guys would sit outside to smoke back in the day, myself and my friend would always talk about how we never plan on smoking like them because we all knew the health risks when it comes to smoking. These guys would laugh at us because of the way we would run away from them whenever they try passing the weed to us to have a drag or two.
Anyways, fast forward to a year later, about three weeks ago, myself and my friend were seated with some of our other friends when someone that we all knew walked up to us and brought out some weed for them to smoke. Now some of the guys with us are known smokers so it wasn't a surprised that this guy had brought out some weed, but what surprised me was when my friend asked them to give him a tiny bit of the weed.
The weed wasn't wrapped up yet and according to him, he didn't want to smoke it because he doesn't smoke but he would rather chew it than smoke it. This came as a surprise to me because about a week ago, this same guy wouldn't even touch a tiny bag of weed and now he claims that he can chew it but not smoke it?
Now though I was surprised, I didn't say anything because we all were grown-ups and everyone can make their own choices because there are certain advises we might give out that would end up with me having a huge disagreement with whoever I'm trying to advise, so it's best to mind my business, especially when you're in the midst of smokers and no one would have your back.
Well yesterday, the unthinkable happened. As usual, we all sat outside when someone suddenly pulled out a wrap of weed from his pocket and started smoking. He had joking passed the weed to me because he knew I was going to say no, and when I did, he had passed it to my friend who surprisingly took it from him and immediately took a drag.
Hand though he only took one drag before handing it back to the guy but isn't that how it all starts, from one drag to two and before we know it, he's wrapping one himself. It's a sad thing really and I remember watching him take that drag and all that was going through my mind were the words of my dad and now, I've chosen to stop hanging out with these people because even though I know that I have no plans to smoke both now or in the future, I really shouldn't give these people the chance to convince me to take a drag just like they did to my friend.
So it's best I take my leave and save myself before it becomes too late.
Leaving such kind of friend is good for you and I agree with your decision. Firstly staying with them is not good for your health. secondly, you might face unnecessary trouble for such kind of friend. Thirdly, there are possibilities also to start doing the same thing what they are doing.
I always try to move away when they start smoking and that is because I know inhaling it is almost the same as smoking it which is bad. When I do move away, they always make fun of me, though as a joke.
I think you are very polite with them but I don't allow to do smoke in front of me. If I see them I snatch it and throw it in garbage or in water. Sometimes they feel angry but I don't care. I strictly said them I will do the same thing in the future also if they dare to do the same thing in front of me. They don't want to waste their money and so they remain careful from me😅 ..
Well that could result to some very bad outcome, it's always best and easier to just walk away 😅
My question is why me😅? They also can do it. In fact they need to do it if they don't want to lose their money and they know that very well it's not possible to change my act.
