The After Effect

I once wrote a post about how much of an influence social media has on relationships but one thing I didn't mention is how social media now has influence on everything we do. People now base their lives off of social media and its so bad. Everyone wants to be famous and so they do whatever it is they feel they can do to make them famous without even thinking twice on the kind of effects or consequences it might have on their followers.

And the sad thing is that a lot of people see celebrities like demigods, so if they see a celebrity doing something, they too will want to give it a try.

A few days ago, there was some news on the internet about two nineteen year old boys who went to see a native doctor (someone who is known to do all kind of black magic and sacrifices to different gods) and they had asked him to help them do some money ritual so that they could become rich. And instead of the herbalist to just take their money and do what they had asked of him, the man had decided to do the right thing instead and had called the police who came to arrest the boys.

Now reading something like that, it was shocking that those boys, at such a young age would even think of something like that. Someone had asked that what were there even going to do with the money.

The police had interrogated the boys and they had said they had no plans of killing someone (which is usually what happens during money ritual) but instead were going to use one of their body parts for ritual.

Reading something like that coming from a nineteen year old kid who literally has his whole life in front of him was so shocking because this kids can be whoever they want to be and get as rich as they want to be if they just give themselves time and work hard and smart but no, social media has made it look like everyone online is a billionaire and sadly this kids feel like the only way to compete and probably post some really good pictures or snaps online is to go do some sort of ritual to be rich.

Social media is no doubt one of man's greatest creations, but it will also be the downfall of many.
