That one thing

I remember the days I and my roommate would brainstorm on what to eat and then after spending hours thinking and not coming up with anything, we would both look at ourselves and then conclude that there really isn't much food choices over here in Nigeria.

But ladies and gentlemen, we all know that isn't true. There are hundreds of delicious meals out there in the country that we most definitely haven't heard of not to talk of tasting it. Unfortunately, what always brought us to the conclusion that there really isn't much food choices out there was the lack of funds to actually get those foods so we limit our thinking to those things that we know our money can buy and these are things that we've eaten probably a hundred times already so we don't want them, hence bringing us to the conclusion that there is no new food in the country.

Today I was asking myself that if I ever found myself in a situation where I was given an option to pick just one type of meal to eat for the rest of my life or for a whole year, what meal would that be.

My first thought had been rice. For those of you who don't know, rice is to Nigerians what Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is to football. I won't be surprised if every family in Nigeria eats rice nothing less than two times a week, I know I do. Unfortunately, the fact that I eat it that often will make it the least food I would want to pick.

The next option will probably be beans and that is an immediate no no for me because my stomach always protests whenever I eat too many beans and then I end up settling the protest at the toilet.

Thinking about it now, I feel I won't be going for any of the famous Nigerian foods like rice, beans, yam and the likes, I will probably asks for something new, something I will like of course because you don't want to be stuck eating something you hate for a whole year.

I guess what this all says at the end is that I really don't have a favorite meal for now. Maybe I did when I was younger but whatever it was back then, it's old now and I'm more than open to trying new foods that I haven't had before, I just need to make enough money to buy this foods myself or make enough friends from different tribes , you know.

Lol.
