Not all superheroes have superpowers and today I’m about to tell you about one of them in my life.

During my first year in school, about a week before my first semester exams. A Coursemate of mine had gone online on our school website to check his student profile when he realized that his department had been changed there. He had immediately called everyone’s attention to it and we all quickly brought out our phones to check ours, that was the beginning of what looked like the end for me.

Just like that of my Coursemate, mine also had been changed from the department of Electrical Engineering to that of Quantity Survey. I lived with my brother at the time (he was at his final year) and had quickly told him what was happening. He had advised me to go to the school’s IT department where cases like this were easily rectified.

I and about eight other people who had the same issue had marched down to the IT department and submitted the necessary details they asked us to submit to them before leaving the place. I had thought that was all, if only I knew how wrong I was. About two days later (that is on a Wednesday, my exam was the next Monday) I found out that everyone who went with me to the IT department had had theirs rectified and everything was looking good for them at the schools website but mine still remained the same, that was when I decided to come back home and go through every of my school document again.

You see, like I mentioned earlier, my brother had been in the school before I was given admission to study there so he had been the one who processed my admission for me, all I did was come to school and went to class without even bothering to cross check every document he handed to me when I first arrived. So as I went through every document, I had noticed a very huge error on the document where he paid the acceptance fee (a fee paid to let the school know you’ve accepted the admission given to you by them) of my admission.

It turned out I had been given admission into two different departments and my brother had accepted that of Quantity Survey and not that of Electrical Electronic Engineering.

When I showed him the error, he had been so scared of what to do because my exams were literally days away. Not rectifying that mistake on time before the exam meant that I was going to write exams on both departments at the same time which was literally impossible and that was when my brother suggested we go meet someone who I later discovered to be my superhero.

Frank was a friend of my brother who lived in the same hostel as us and was a graduate of the same school. When my brother and I went to meet Frank at his room, we had gone there with the intention of Frank pointing us towards the right direction to go, but Frank had done more than that. Frank had immediately gotten dressed and quickly followed us into the school. We had first gone to my screening officer (the person in charge of screening us in other to make us full students of the school) and had told her that his kid bro (me) had some issues with his admission status and needed to see her list of students admitted into the electrical electronic department to know if my name was there. If my name was there, then it meant there was hope in getting a solution for my problem but if it wasn’t, then all hope was lost and it either I chose to go to the Quantity Survey department or go home.

Luckily for me, my name had appeared there and we had quickly moved over to the next stage, the screening office of the Quantity Survey department but unlike the first Screening officer, this one had refused to show us her list (because she obviously was a witch) even though we explained to her how urgent the situation was. After spending about four hours begging her, we had decided to move on to the next phase, the IT office.

Frank was convinced that they were the only people who could help change it seeing how my name was on the list of the first screening officer and he had not been wrong. When we got to the IT office, the guy there had paid no attention to us. According to him, he was “very busy” and didn’t need any disturbance and so he asked us to leave and come back some other time. But as we were about to leave, Frank spotted a female lecturer who lectured him during his time as a student and had approached her. The woman had recognized him and he had quickly explained everything to her.

The female lecturer obviously understood what we were going through and immediately ordered the “busy” guy to help us sort out our issue before she left. The IT guy, realizing he now had no choice, asked us to meet him outside where he asked for the sum of ten thousand naira to help us. It obviously was a bribe because he had no reason to take anything from us seeing all he had to do was press some buttons on the computer and everything would be as it should. But time was running out, we were desperate and he knew that, so I quickly went to the ATM machine, withdrew the money and gave it to him.

And about five minutes later, I logged into my students profile only to find out that everything had been rectified. That day, I remember thanking Frank for all his help and I had even given him a little token to show my appreciation. He had refused at first but I had made it clear that I won’t leave his room unless he took it from me because I knew I wouldn’t be a student if it wasn’t for Frank, if it wasn’t for my superhero.

Exactly, not all superheroes have super powers. There are many super heroes among starting from our parents and siblings. For me, my biggest super heroes are my family members.

God bless Frank for helping you.
