Quest For Money

Looking at the world today, it's so sad how the youths are so much in a hurry when it comes to making money. In their pursuit for wealth, some of them end up doing some diabolical things like money rituals, while those whose mind isn't that strong end up going for things like Internet fraud. And the worse thing about this whole thing is that the people who engage in these illicit activities are young boys, people between the age of 18 to 28, people who still have their whole life ahead of them and haven't even tried trying to make it the right way before doing it the wrong way. They just choose the wrong way from their very first try and they do this because no one has patience anymore.

There are literally hundred of online skills out there that could make you a millionaire if you dedicate about six months to a year of constant practice, but no one would do that, they all want the easy and quick way, the same way that always leads to destruction.

I have this high-school friend of me who I really haven't been in touch with ever since we all left high school. I have his number but there really isn't much to talk about so we rarely call or chat, all we do is view each others status. About a year ago, I discovered he had gotten himself a car. He had posted about it on his status and I had been among the people who congratulated him about it.

Some people had even teased him about how he was able to get a car, to which he had screenshotted the chat and posted it on his status, telling everyone it was all thanks to God and working hard himself. This was about eight months ago. Fast forward to today, I found out that this young man (who is actually twenty-five years old) doesn't only own a car, but he recently got married to a foreign lady who was more than twice his age and she had been the one who got him the car.

Now getting married to an older lady isn't a problem, but as a Nigerian, we all know when a young man gets married that early to a foreigner who is almost the age of his mother, then he clearly has ulterior motives. And yes you might say that I'm just overthinking this whole thing (even though I'm sure every Nigerian reading this knows I'm not) and you might be right, but this marriage happened about two months ago and he kept it a secret from everyone, from all of his friends.

And when the person who found out about it through the facebook page of the lady he got married to who had posted all the videos and wedding pictures had asked him if the marriage was true, he had immediately asked her how she found out about it so that he could go take it down.

And the crazy part of this whole thing is that he has been cruising in his new ride all over the streets of Lagos, without his wedding band on, claiming to be a single young successful man who's just enjoying life, not knowing that there's an innocent fifty-something year old woman financing all of that lifestyle simply because she's in love with someone who clearly is only after her money.

Like I said, this is a young man who clearly hasn't even tried to work hard and see if he can be successful in life without having to go this extra mile. And what's even more sad is the people over here, looking at the wedding videos and telling me they too would do the same if they were given such an opportunity.

It's really sad but unfortunately, this is the world we live in today.
