Priorities X Common Sense

I sat down with a couple of friends today just talking about random things because it was the weekend and we had no plans to go out, so we were just talking about anything that comes to mind and that was how a conversation very common among guys came up, Money.

Y'all probably thought I was going to say football, Lol.

Well, we were talking about the struggle and what it takes to be really financially stable
in this country when all of a sudden one of the guys started to tell us about a friend of his who at one time had the sum of eleven million naira in his account, that is about twenty-six thousand dollars or more (this was when one dollar was still around five hundred naira or thereabout).

Now this is a whole lot of money over here, enough to change ones life if he or she uses it the right way but according to my friend narrating the story, all the dude did was go from one hotel to another while going to the club almost every night. He said the guy stayed in an hotel for two months while doing nothing other than waking up, eating and probably sleeping with naive girls who were obviously after his money.

As expected, he said it didn't take long before the dude went broke and now his literally begging his friends for money in other to feed. When I heard the story, I started to get pissed and it was strange because I usually don't bother myself with these things but then I've always thought that everyone has this one thing called common sense but obviously I was wrong.

If there is one thing I'm grateful for, it's the fact that my dad made sure he thought us things like setting our priorities straight. I remember back then I would overhear my dad telling my mom that his a man that plans his things ahead before doing anything and how he will never start anything he can't finish. He would say "I always make sure to set my priorities straight because I know I have a family to take care of"

I guess growing up with a man like that made me think that that was the way it was everywhere, people having priorities and common sense but obviously I had been wrong. Some people just do things without even thinking about what tomorrow holds and it pisses me off because these are the kind of people that gets rare opportunities the most and then they lavish it, while those who really know how to set their priorities straight and plan their future properly are the ones suffering.

Unfortunately, a lot of youths are like this, no common sense. All they want to do is live in the moment, forgetting that tomorrow is very close by and that what they do today will determine what their tomorrow will be.

Who is a wealthy man? The one that can afford anything he wants? Definitely not. A wealthy man is one that has amassed so much value that he effortlessly impacts his environment.

Give a man a million dollars and he will show you a billion dollars with time. Give a billion dollars to a man who has no worth or essence, and he will produce nothing over time.

In short, people with a lack of vision and misplaced priorities will always end up short in the exhibition of fruitful hands.

Oh well, that is absolutely a case of deliberate foolishness on his part.
Or the eleven million was ill-gotten and so had to be spent as soon as possible.
Who knows?

Even if he got it through some fraudulent way, the quickest way to make a money disappear from your account is to invest it in a business or something that would bring in some form of income in the future.

But just like you said, it was nothing but foolishness.

I agreed with generation changes and also the youth priority. It's hard to say but younger people only look for today, what they will do at the night, not what shall be waiting in the future. Common sense is not common now for people who don't look at it, ignoring for good.

Yup..They feel the future will take care of itself so they just act like they don't care about it.
