Playing it too safe

Today's Hive Learners contest topic has to do with us talking about the risk and life threatening situations that we've been in, and although I feel that everyday we step out of our home to either go to work or go do one thing or the order is a risk itself, I haven't really taken any intentional risk of recent.

First of all, one of the reason why I say that stepping out of your home is a huge risk on your life here itself is because corruption has eaten so deep into this country that the people responsible for our safety no longer care about it as long as you can fill their pockets with some coins. Sadly, that is why anyone can go on the road with a commercial bus, pick up lots of passengers and take them down to their destination even without a proper drivers licence and driving experience.

I've been in a vehicle where after driving for a while, the driver had stopped the bus, got down from it, shook hands with the bus conductor before walking away, while we all watched the conductor get into the driver's seat and continued driving. It's a mad house down here, and that is why in order to be safe, you can either do one of these two things, get yourself a car of your own, or pray fervently every morning before leaving your home or you can do both if you're really really serious about having a long life.

But you see, all of that actually has nothing to do with the post I have in mind for today, because in as much as I plan on writing about risk, I want to talk about a different kind of risk, the financial kind. Just recently I was having one of those conversations you have with yourself where you do a review of your life to see if you're either going forward, backward or being stagnant and unfortunately, I found myself neither going backward or forward.

I hated the fact that there really hasn't been any significant change in my life financially for a while now, and the only reason why I feel it has been that way is due to me playing it too safe, not taking risks, be it calculated or not. I found myself being too relaxed and comfortable with the way things currently are now, even though I know perfectly well that I want things to be far more better than this.

Thankfully the whole thing acted as a wake up call for me and now I'm willing to work harder and if possible take some risks and get out of that comfort zone because where I plan on getting to is still very far from where I currently am today.

Unless a person brings confidence in life and stops being afraid of fear, then he will never be able to achieve success in life.

Just like you pointed out in the beginning of the article, life is full of risk including physical and financial. However, one needs to take risk to move forward.

My dear, life is full of risk and recently, I joined the risk takers. There's one investment I did now hoping to earn from it... right now, my heart has been jumping, haha..in the night, I think about it but i am not giving up..cos if i eventually succeed, it will bring a big smile to my face
It's good to know that you are set to take the bull by the horn
Just pray, research and take that risk. We all deserve a good life, however we need to leave our comfort zone... stretch ourselves and hopefully, God will see our efforts and bless us

I think we should try to avoid the risk unless it's necessary. Risks should be taken based on situation and in a calculated way.

I agree with you but not entirely. Sometimes, uncalculated risks could end up becoming the best decision of your life or the worse.. It's just not advisable though.
