Money is Everything
I know the topic of this post alone is enough to start up some really good heated arguments in the comment section but trust me that’s not the purpose of this post. I know people always say money isn’t everything and most times when they say it in certain situations we see sense in what they say but then I believe that when it comes to general matters in life then money is indeed everything.
People always say more money more problem but I would prefer crying and thinking about my problems in a private island like the Lanai island in Hawaii than to live in a ghetto somewhere with no hope of what to eat for dinner.
However, the reason for today’s topic is something entirely different from the things I’ve talked about up there. Some few months back, something happened in the hostel where I live that ended with a law student getting arrested by the states Criminal Investigation Department also known as the State CID.
Usually in this part of the state, hardly do we see the state CID, it’s usually the ordinary policemen that comes around from time to time to scoop away young guys and extort them of their money.
But in this case, the state CID had come specifically for a particular young man. After he was taken away, I quietly came out of my room and then gently walked over to where I could get the full story of what he had done.
It turned out that the young man who had been arrested had a misunderstanding with another female occupant in the hostel and the whole thing had ended with him slapping her across the face. The young girl (probably between the age of 20-24) had gotten upset and then picked up her phone to call her rich sugar daddy. The rich sugar daddy had in return placed a phone call to the state CID and instructed them to come arrest the young man.
Everyone in the hostel knew the whole situation wasn’t really that serious for the state CID to get involved but they had arrived like zombies and had carried out the order of the sugar daddy by arresting the young man simply because the man who had given the order was a rich man.
The thought of that alone made me realize how powerful you can be the moment you have money. You can control almost anyone with just a phone call and it simply because you have a lot of money to spend so forgive me when I say this but it does look like money is indeed everything.
Or maybe, maybe I should just say Money is Power and Power is everything.
The young man returned home some few days later, he has been humble ever since. Only God know what they did to him.
