There are lessons that should be learnt from a distance. Things that if we experience them firsthand could end up breaking us and the current situation Bayo was in was definitely one of those.

Two years ago Bayo had gotten married to the love of his life and now it seems like he’s at the edge of losing her forever just because he listened to the one person he shouldn’t have listened to, the one person he called his friend, Jude.

What Bayo knew now but wished he knew it some few days ago was that every family has what works for them. There are families where the husband and wife takes turn in washing the dishes and doing the laundry, there are families where just the wife takes care of the dishes and the husband takes care of the laundry.

When Jude had first visited Bayo at his home, he had watched as both Bayo and his wife prepared dinner. He didn’t say anything about it until later that night when Bayo escorted him back to his own house, that was when Jude had said all that has been eating him up.

He had told Bayo of how he was the man of his own home and how his wife dare not ask him to come help her out in the kitchen.

“I’m the bread winner of my family so when I come back after the days work, my food has to be cooked and served to me.” Jude had said to his friend Bayo who in return had tried to explain to his friend that both him and his wife work during the day, so it’s only logical that he helps out in anyway he can rather than to just sit in the living room because he knows that she also must be tired.

By the time they were done with their conversation, they were already at Jude’s house, so Bayo had thought Jude would at least invite him in for a drink but Jude had made up an excuse and had promised to invite him in next time.

Bayo had not thought much about it and had walked back home. On his way home, he couldn’t help but think about all what his friend had said and that had been the beginning of the end of his marriage.

Bayo became a completely strange person, always yelling at his wife about how he was the man of the house and should be treated as such. He continued this way until few days ago when his wife decided she couldn’t take it no more and moved out of their home, then Bayo had gone over to Jude’s house uninvited to explain everything to him and to know what next step to take, that was when he realized he had been a complete fool.

At Jude’s home, things had been the complete opposite of what he thought it would be. Jude wasn’t the man of the house, his wife was. She makes way too much money than he does and is the one who pays for everything so he always made sure to be home on time to make sure dinner was ready.

“No wonder he never allowed me into his home” Bayo whispered to himself as he went back home that day.

Bayo had gone back home with nothing but regrets all over him. He had an angel with him and maltreated her. He needed to go plead with her, he has learnt his lesson, he only wish he’s not too late.
