Making the Right Choice

I was seeing a Nigerian movie earlier today which I normally don't do because of how predictable their storyline usually is, but I was seeing one today and in this scene, this rich guy was being mean to a street beggar. The rich guy was insulting the beggar, telling him to go look for a job instead of being in the street begging when he clearly has no disability.

Now I agree that in the movie, the rich man was mean but it got me thinking and I know that I myself have seen a lot of beggars in the street who have no disabilities at all but yet they still decide to beg. I know we don't know anyone's story and their reason for taking whatever path they choose to take but there are just certain things that we see and can't help but judge, even if we don't say it out loud.

Before I traveled all the way to the east to school, I used to live with my family in lagos and I remember my barber was a guy who was both deaf and dumb. He was born that way and yet the young man didn't let that stop him from doing something with his life. I remember that the barber who taught him how to barb was the dad's barber and my dad would always tell us that whenever he went to cut his hair, the deaf guy was always being punished because he was always doing something wrong.

But that didn't stop him from learning to do what he had gone there to do and trust me when I say he ended up becoming one of the best barber in the entire street. He got so good that even when we moved out of the area, I still would get on different buses just to go barb my hair at his shop.

Explaining the kind of hair cut I wanted was usually a difficult task especially when I wanted to try something new but I always found a way to get the message across and he always made sure to do a fantastic job.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that depending on your situation, there should always be a solution, one better that you choosing to be a street beggar, but then again, like I said, I don't know your situation and you choosing to beg in the street so I really can't say. But if you happen to be someone who chooses to beg on the street simply because you're lazy to do anything else, you should do better for yourself and your future.

Begging on the street shouldn't be the best thing to do because there are lots of things someone can do instead of begging on the street.

Very true. Especially if there's nothing wrong with you physically that is preventing you from working.
