Learning to hoop

I did something today that I usually would procrastinate about and end up not doing.

It's Sunday and usually my daily routine after church service is to stay home, eat, probably sleep or do anything else that wouldn't require me leaving the comfort of my home. But instead of doing all of that, I decided to take a stroll with the boys today. The plan had been to go watch some of my friends play football because they have a football match today but then I ended up finding myself in a basketball court.

Now, I suck at basketball. I know absolutely nothing about the sport other than the fact that it pays really well. So when this stranger who I was just meeting for the first time handed me a ball to hoop, I was surprised but got excited. Surprised because I didn't know who he was and I wasn't even dressed to play, but excited because it's fun trying new things, especially in sports. If I remember correctly, this was my first time in a basketball court, my first time holding an actual basketball and also my first time attempting to hoop and guess what, I flopped it.

That wasn't exactly a surprise to me, considering how this is literally my first time giving it a try, but then I tried a couple of more times, hoping to at least score one but I didn't. I got a little bit disappointed because watching it on television, it seems pretty easy to do, but then I soon realize that I wasn't even holding the ball correctly to begin with.

One of the guys had walked up to us and offered to teach us how to hold the ball and throw, which he did in a very nice, friendly way, but even that couldn't help me in scoring.. Turned out holding the ball correctly was one thing, aiming was another.

Nevertheless, I ended up having a really good time there and probably even made a new friend because he offered to give me some free lessons if I ever do get serious about learning how to play, an offer I doubt I would be taking him up on. Basketball seems fun but it's definitely not for me, I'd rather stick to football.

Anyways, I guess the moral of the story is to go out more, because you never know who you might meet and what you may learn. Sometimes I ask myself how I plan on finding a wife if I keep up with this lazy character of wanting to be indoors all the time, but that's a conversation for another day.

You had a different Sunday then. Although many of us are very grateful for the rest that afternoon, our mental hygiene also needs this kind of afternoons like the one you had. I like basketball. I'm not very good at shooting baskets either. But with practice we can improve a lot. Regards @prayzz

I'm also grateful for the rest too just that I'm basically resting during other days of the week too, so I felt like I needed to just go out and have fun.. And talking about basketball, I doubt I would be practising in the nearest future 😅

It is true that every day we must learn something and that will make our future life easier. I myself feel better when I learn something from others.
