Late nights and all that...
Growing up in my family, going out to parties wasn't something my dad was in agreement with. He didn't like his kids behaving like the other kids who did all sort of crazy stuff, so he made sure he prevented us from attending such things. And unfortunately (or fortunately), I got used to it (not going out) and it has been that way ever since.
But you see, today's topic is one I am excited about because as we have it, the beginning of this year happens to be the first time (in my four years of being away from home) that I finally allowed myself to really have some fun, fun that required me leaving the comfort of my home.
Unlike the previous years, the people at my hostel this year finally decided to work together as one, so we began organising outing events, birthday parties, swimming and so on. Some happened during the day, and some happened late at night, sometimes even as late as 3am in the morning.
The fun and excitement was so much that for a minute it felt like I was just beginning to now have fun and enjoy life. I knew my life has been boring, but doing all of those fun stuff made me fully aware of how boring it has been.
We lived this way for over a month, the month of January to be exact (if I remember correctly). Although I never really got to learn how to swim during any of those outing because one of my friends had almost drowned right in my presence, just being there and watching everyone go in and out of the water was way much fun than me sitting at home and doing nothing.
Unfortunately, the fun didn't last for too long as we all were soon brought back to reality and everyone went back to doing the one thing everyone has been doing, going to lectures and trying to make money to survive.
Life went back to normal and for a minute I found myself reminiscing about those days and wishing we could go back to the everyday outing and all that.
Luckily for me, my prayers were answered and last night, we had agreed that we all needed to go for a swim. So we all had gotten together, gotten into the bus and drove down to this one bar that also has a pool, but just as we got there, it started raining and sadly, they had to close the pool, not just because of the rain but because all of the divers had gone home and it was against their policy to let anyone into the pool without the divers around.
So we decided to just hang around for a while, get some few drinks before heading home, but as expected, a few drinks turned to a couple of drinks and before we knew it, it was almost 4am. We all immediately got into the bus and headed back home with plans to return another day to swim.
Hopefully we don't take too long this time around.
It's good that you tried to experience away from your comfort zone.😊
Yeah.. Feels good
