Jehovah's Witness

Before I begin, how was your Sunday?

A knock at my door had woken me up this morning. I wasn't expecting anyone so I was a bit irritated and confused as to who was at my door that early in the morning. I tried going back to bed, maybe if I ignored whoever it was at the door they would leave, but a second and a more louder knock made me change my mind.

I had marched to the door, getting ready to shout at whoever it was that was disturbing my beautiful sleep, but one look into my peephole, I saw that it was our friendly neighbourhood preachers, the Jehovah's witness. I immediately glanced at my phone only to see that it wasn't as early as I had thought, it was almost noon.

I had gone to bed late the previous night as usual and had thought that it was still early. Not wanting to receive any sermon at the moment because I still needed to sleep more, I collapsed on my bed, their continous knock no longer a nuisance to me. It's kinda like how we can barely sleep with the lights and music on at home but whenever we are at vigil in church, the many bulbs and loud speakers close to our head never stops us from having a good nap.

If you're wondering why I had opted to ignore the knocks on my door rather than to answer and maybe tell them to come some other time, well it's because experience has taught me that though ignoring might feel rude, it is a faster way of getting them to leave you alone and also because I feel like seeing how all they're trying to do is preach the gospel, answering the door and asking them to leave because "I'm busy" makes me feel like I'm telling God that I'm too busy for him. So it's always easier and safer to ignore to prevent my mind from going crazy with all these thoughts.

Anyways, about an hour later I had decided to take a stroll. The Jehovah witness people were beginning to come out in numbers now and I needed to escape, so I got my clothes on and decided to take a walk in school.

Few minutes into my walk in the school, I decided to take a rest under this huge mango tree which also had chairs under it because it was a relaxation spot for students. But it didn't take long for the preachers to find me there too, so I had to escape.

I know it might seem like I was really avoiding getting preached to, but that wasn't really the case. I've just never had a good experience with this preachers because whenever they preach to you, they're always shouting at the top of their voices, almost like they're preaching to a full congregation, meanwhile it's just you. Things like that makes me feel uncomfortable and because I don't want to be rude by asking you to bring down your voice, I just sit there and endure the whole torture. So yeah, I try to avoid them every chance I get.

Also, I don't get the idea of preaching to people on the street on Sundays, the one day where people do go to church. I mean I know I didn't go to church today, but they don't know that. They should pick other days to preach and not Sundays when we already got some preaching from our various churches.

Well, after politely turning the preacher down, I decided the safe way to escape them completely was to just keep on walking until its time to go home, and that was exactly what I did.

It was Sunday so the whole place was empty as expected (except for the preachers of course), and after spending about an hour more in school just having a peaceful and quiet walk and taking pictures too, I decided it was time to come back home. Luckily for me this time, the road was free and the preachers had all gone home. So yeah, that was how my Sunday was spent.. How about yours?
