I Live in a Haunted House

I've heard a lot of crazy stories that has to do with witchcraft and supernatural powers but they've always been just that, stories. I've never really seen anything with my own eyes to confirm the many stories that I've heard, and to be honest, it's not like I'm eager to witness any one myself (I'm perfectly okay with just hearing the stories because not everything should be experienced, especially something like this).

Anyways, it seems like I might get to experience one sooner than expected (or probably I already have). I had woken up this morning only to see that I had an unread message from my hostel group chat. This group chat is usually where we pass information to everyone in the hostel and for a while now, it has been silent because no one was saying anything there. So waking up to see about fifteen unread messages there piqued my interest.

It turned out that the first person who had sent a text there this morning was actually a friend of mine and surprisingly, he was asking us to schedule a time for all of us to have a hostel prayer. This was a surprise because this is someone who really isn't that religious and rarely goes to church, so seeing him ask for something like that got me even more interested in his reasons why.

Well according to him, every night he hears sounds of someone walking on his ceiling or having a bath in his bathroom, and everytime he gets up to check his bathroom, he sees nothing. At first when I read that, I began to laugh because it was hilarious to me but when I started to read about the experiences of other people in the same hostel in the group chat, I soon realized that maybe this wasn't a joke after all.

You see I've always heard footsteps on my ceiling (I still heard it tonight), but I've always taken it that since I live at the topmost floor, it's probably just rats or some animal that somehow got in the ceiling making such noises. But this guy complaining doesn't stay at the topmost floor, he stays below me, so he technically doesn't have a ceiling for rats to climb into because it's just cement and blocks above him.

But maybe he's over exaggerating and it's probably just the guys who live above him making the noise at night when they move around, but that doesn't explain the bathroom movement, it doesn't, plus the stories from the other guys.

Anyways, I once said here that I planned on moving out early next year and I was still saving for it. But you see, unlike the American movies where they see strange things and still go close to it to ask if "it's okay", I'm a black man who doesn't joke with crazy things like that so I'm speeding things up, I will powerdown some Hive if I have to, all I know is that I have to get out of here as soon as possible.

And yeah I forgot to add, the landlord died about two months ago and some of the tenants have this crazy theory that it might be his spirit hanging around. Honestly, I don't care and I have no plans on finding out.
