I Can't Float
Today was one of my friend's birthdays, and I thought it would be funny to post a video of him where he almost drowned in a pool while trying to swim for the first time. So imagine my surprise when I checked today's contest topic and realized it had to do with swimming. That was a huge coincidence and maybe a sign that I shouldn't go close to any large body of water for the remainder of this year. Lol
But yeah, I've tried learning how to swim a couple of times, none of it being successful. I remember one time when I was watching this video online where this guy was struggling in the water, trying not to drown. I had gone to the comment section, and one comment that caught my attention was that of a guy who said that he didn't understand how anyone would drown.
And he said that because, according to him, even if you don't know how to swim, you can just float on the water. Apparently, you can float on your back, and all you have to do is nothing. Now, saying that sounds really easy to do, almost like a walk in the park. Well, I tried it, and I almost floated to heaven because I saw myself panicking and desperately trying to grab on to anything to save my life.
Personally, I've given up and come to the conclusion that maybe it's just not for me. Unfortunately, if I do find myself in a situation where the only way to survive would be to swim out of there, I probably will try, but I'm not confident about what the outcome would be.
Hopefully, trying not to die and the adrenaline that would be in my system could possibly help place things in my favor. But yeah, I sincerely would love to learn how to swim, and I probably will eventually. I just have to first win the battle in my head and get over the fear, find a good instructor, and just try to stay afloat.
If you ask me, swimming should be something every parent should try to teach their kids from an early age because it is a survival skill. And something about this one is the fact that whenever it is needed in a serious situation, it will always be a life-or-death situation.
And I say that because other than just for fun, no one ever needs to swim unless it's absolutely needed, and when it's absolutely needed, it means a life is at stake because either you're swimming to get away from something or somewhere, or you're swimming to go get something or someone, both of which you wouldn't do if it wasn't important.

Floating without knowing how to swim is not so easy. In my eyes it extremely difficult to gather so much courage to float if you don't know how to swim. It's good to learn swimming but your life isn't going to end if you don't know.
