Hot or Cold - Pick Your Poison

They say that as humans, there's always a choice for us to make, but is it really a choice if the options before us is between the devil and the deep blue sea?

I had woken up this morning feeling a bit ill, but I didn't let that stop me from doing everything I was expected to do today (Saturday happens to be the busiest day of the week for me), but after I was done, I decided to go find out what is wrong with me, because unlike what most Nigerians do, I decided to not self diagnosed myself with the famous malaria illness and really wanted to find out what really was the problem with me.

It turned out I had cold, lol. Considering how hot this place has been lately, it was the last thing I would have guessed was wrong with me but it didn't take long for me to pinpoint when and where I might have gotten this cold, of course it was no other place but at my hostel.

About two, three week's ago, some youths over here had ganged up and beaten someone who happens to be the president of the body in charge of supplying us electricity, so as a repercussion, we had been thrown into weeks of blackout and even as I type this, we still haven't regained power supply. So what that meant was that unless it rained at night or it happens to be cold, majority of the nights here always feels like hell.

But I came to realized that although my bed always feels like hell whenever I lay on it (which ends with me sweating profusely and not being able to sleep), the ground has an entirely different temperature. So I was left to pick my poison, the bed which was hot or the ground which was cool and in a bid to get really nice night rests, I settled to sleep on the floor every night, at least until this whole power issue has been rectified.

Now in my defense, whenever I laid on the floor, it wasn't always very cold but then it gets colder during midnights and depending on how tired I was the previous day before going to bed, I found it hard to get up to move to the bed sometimes and that was where the whole problem started for me and now I'm down with this illness. Luckily for me, I was told that it wasn't that serious and I would be fine within a couple of days after taking certain medications but that really isn't the problem for me, is it?

The main problem starts later tonight, because I will have to decide again if I want to punish myself and not get any sleep due to the heat by staying on the bed or if I want to get a good night rest and get killed by pneumonia... The devil or the deep blue sea.

Naturally heat, sweat and Cold from floor is enough to make you sick. In my country we face such kind of situation when the weather changes. To be honest I don't have any suggestion for you in this case because you have disadvantages in both case.

Yeah and that is the sad thing because none of the options is favorable to me.. I guess I will just have to pick one and learn to live with it, at least until the electricity problem is settled.
