Helping People 2

Yesterday I had written about helping people and how dangerous it is nowadays, due to how people tend to take advantage of ones kindness and pay them back with evil.

Well, something had happened some few months ago that I forgot to mention last night, something that had sort of confirmed everything my dad had told me all those many years ago and also what I had written about the previous day. Early that morning, this particular guy had walked into my hostel and with the help of someone else, he had carried my neighbour's generator with intent to steal it and sell it.

Luckily for my neighbour, someone had spotted the guy stealing the generator and had raised an alarm at my hostel for everyone to quickly come downstairs to stop the guy from executing his mission. It turned out that the guy helping the real thief had no idea that that guy was stealing the generator in the first place, the guy (the thief) had asked him (the helper) to help him move "his" own generator from our hostel to his place.

I remember the guy walking up to me to tell me that he had no idea that the thief wasn't the owner of the generator, he had done that because he was scared of getting arrested because we had plans of calling the cops to arrest them that day, but we ended up not doing it because the thief happens to be an indigene of the village and if there's one thing the people around here don't like, it's students calling the police on their own people, so we had to let him walk without any consequences.

But you see, if that guy wasn't an indigene, the whole situation would have been a different one for both of them, because they would have been arrested and sent to prison, especially the helper who was just an innocent guy trying to assist a brother out in helping him carry his generator from one place to another.

Reminds me about the many times my dad has told me stories of innocent people rotting away in prison for crimes they didn't commit or had no idea of. This is why it is very advisable to be careful about the kind of people you help. No one says that you shouldn't help someone in need, you just have to be extra careful when doing so because the world is not what it used to be.

This is a really serious issue because at a point, you just get confused to know who you should help and who you should not. They don’t write it on their foreheads that they have bad intentions, may God just keep helping us.

There are a lot of innocent people locked away in jail, suffering for what they know nothing about and that is just so so sad.

Yup, that is why I said it's scary because to you, you might feel you're doing some good, only to end up in trouble for it.

Helping others is a good thing but I need to be careful that we are helping the right person who deserve help. Helping a wrong person means helping to do something more evil. It's better to stay careful about it.

Unfortunately, we are never hundred percent careful and sometimes ends up helping the bad ones.
