Having some savings
Earlier today I was talking to a friend about another friend whose phone recently got damaged, and we were discussing about how this friend didn't have any form of savings to get a new phone with. They had to look for other ways to raise money in order to do that.
And for some understandable reasons, this person that I was talking to didn't like that. They feel that someone earning the kind of money that he is earning should have some significant amount of money saved up somewhere for situations like this. It was a valid point, one that I agreed with but I found myself making excuses for that friend, not because I was trying to be a good frirnd, but because I saw myself in that friend.
A while back I had written about saving money and how I used to be very good at saving money when I was a kid, but now it was a different story. Well, I wasn't lying about that. Recently I've had more reason to spend than I've had to save and trust me when I say that I know how disappointing that sounds. My dad would be mad at me if he was reading this but thank God he isn't.
Anyways, I found myself defending this reckless spending friend of mine simply because I myself was a reckless spending friend. Although I really don't think all of the spending was indeed reckless because this guy happens to be someone with a good heart, maybe too much good heart if you ask me.
He's almost like me, a guy who can't sit and watch someone suffer when we know that a couple of bucks would solve their problems and put a smile on their face, especially when we know that we have that couple of bucks. So what do we do, we dip our hands into our pocket and always try to help out. It's a good thing to do, but not when you're trying to save some good amount of money.
This reason is why I feel the greedy bastards around us are doing so well and we're not, because in order to have a lot of money, you either need to have a good paying job or just spend less.
Anyways, ever since that last post on savings, I've been trying to do right by myself and I'm proud on the progress I've made so far when it comes to saving some money. As for my friend, maybe I might have a couple of words with him because although what he's doing with his money is good, and it is his money, not having any form of savings around is a terrible terrible thing, especially as a man.

You see, I used to say that it is good to be generous, helping people but one should be wise to spare some part for savings too. You can't give everything out and not save some behind because when you are in need, you will be surprised when these people you have helped are not there to help you. We have to be wise while being generous.
For me, I have learnt to say no at some point in my life while taking myself important in the aspect of savings. I love to give but I am careful to keep some to save.
I feel the best way to go about something like this is making sure you divide your earnings into two, one for yourself and the other one for savings. You can help someone with the one you kept for yourself but the moment that runs out, you can never touch the savings.
That way, you get to tell people you don't have money when they come asking, not because you don't have, but because the only money you have is your savings.
Exactly 💯
Savings is very necessary and everyone should have the habit in their character all the time. I think I am good one when it's about savings.

Good for you brother... Hopefully, I get to be good at it again like I once was.
