Growth

If there's one thing we all want in our lives, it is growth. But we also have to admit that not all growth is good growth and there are times where we just have to take a break because of how fast we're going and because sometimes, too much speed doesn't mean good speed.

Anyways, today was one of those days where myself and my friends where kinda reminiscing about our first year in school and how horrible it was financially fir all of us and we all were just talking about how we would sometimes go to bed on empty stomach or on the good days eat noodles all day simply because that was all we could afford.

I had told them stories of how back in the day, I would use the sum of five thousand naira for more than two weeks before I got another allowance from my dad. But thinking about all that now, it sounds really impossible to me (and I probably wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't happened to me first hand) for a student to be able to use that little amount of money for that long.

These days, I can't even use that same amount of money for three days and even though I now can afford a better lifestyle financially, I still don't think that spending "lavishly" is the kind of growth I want for myself. But just to set the record straight, when I say "spending lavishly" I don't exactly mean "Lavish" like I spend anyhow and on anything I see, I just spend more now than I used to and I understand that is normal seeing how I worked twice as hard and now earn more than I used to, I still feel like there are ways I can cut down on this expenses in a way where I have the things I need but not everything I want because getting everything I want would lead to more spending.

And what's worse is that this isn't the first time I've thought about this same thing, I've even tried cutting down on some expenses but it felt like I was cutting half of my life away and I wouldn't last a day without those things so I immediately went back to getting those things.

So now this is where I need y'all help on cutting down on some expenses not because I can't afford it but because I really do need to focus more on saving or investing rather than spending.

The only problem with that now is how to begin because it's been a while I've been this way and I don't even know how to not be this way. So please if you have any suggestions that you feel might help a brother out in this situation, please leave a comment below.

I feel the thing that is happening is that you are spending money on the things that are important to you. You are spending on your needs and not on your wants...

This is just like me. Including my transport fare to work, I spend more than $5 per day because I stay on the island and it's not possible to trek...lol

I feel the best thing to do is to work harder instead of cutting our expenses and not getting the normal things we used to...

Yeah I think that makes sense.. I guess at the end of it all, the more you earn, the more you spend.

People spend more when they earn more and the same thing is happening with you.
I think you can set a weekly saving goal and start doing it.

I really need to set a saving goal.. I've always said I would do it but never did.
