The day Lisa dreaded was finally here. No amount of words could describe how heartbroken she felt as she watched Eric board the bus. She couldn't do anything to stop him from leaving other than to allow the tears in her eyes freely run down her cheeks. She knew what she was getting into when they started this whole thing but she had decided to act oblivion to it, hoping that maybe if she pretended like she had no idea of it, then it probably wouldn't happen. But Lisa knew she had been fooling herself. Eric was seventeen and she sixteen, they were still too young to live by themselves.

Eric had first seen Lisa when he went to register in her school to take lessons for the West African Examination that was coming up soon. Eric dad had been temporarily transferred over to that area and although the move had been temporary, he had moved his whole family with him because he knew that temporary sometimes could mean a year or more. So Eric had had no choice than to quit his school and move with his dad.

The lesson had started and it didn't take long before he got Lisa's attention. Who wouldn't be attracted to the new brilliant kid in school?

But just before the two started dating, Eric had told her of his dad's temporary transfer and how he could leave with his family any moment. Lisa had thought about it for a while and decided she didn't care.

"Let's make use of the time we have left to create beautiful memories." she had told Eric and the latter had been happy she had chosen to be with him.

And then as time went on, the fear of losing each other started to fade away, until one day when Eric's dad got a call from his boss, he had just one week to round up whatever business he had over there and return back to his former place of work.

When Eric told Lisa of the latest development, she had cried her eyes out. Eric too had tried his best to fight back the tears but it had been impossible to do, and so both lovers cried in each other arms. The rest of that week had been the both of them making promises of how they would never forget about each other and then the day finally came. Eric quickly rushed over to Lisa's home to tell her goodbye for the last time but when has it ever been easy to say goodbyes?

Lisa continued shedding tears as Eric waved at her as the bus started moving. She stood still and watched until she could no longer see the bus.

They say time heals all wound, but Lisa doubted if she would ever be healed of this wound.
