Giving People their Flowers
If there's one thing I don't do enough, it's give people their flowers when they're presently in my life, a habit I need to stop.
When I first came here to school, there was a guy whose name is Frank who was so selfless and would literally put everyone in front before himself. Whenever anyone had any troubles, he would take it up like it was his own problems and would make sure he tried his possible best to find a solution for that problem.
Unfortunately, I never really got the opportunity to thank Frank for his selflessness until he eventually traveled to a different state and I lost his contacts and haven't seen or spoken to him ever since. Then fast forward to a few years later and God brought in another selfless person into my life in the name of Canice.
Just like Frank, Canice always made sure to be there for anyone and everyone. I doubt there was a time I saw him upset because he rarely got upset. He was a young man with a heart of gold. Canice was so nice that even when he got cheated by other people, he would overlook it and remind me that life doesn't end here and that there's still better opportunities in the future.
He would try to motivate me even when I wasn't the one being cheated because I would always get upset when I saw someone treat him some kind of way.
It wasn't like he was weak and always allowed people to walk over him, just that he didn't always react the way you would expect him to react, like he always chose peace over violence.
Unfortunately, I never really appreciated his kindness until he too left to a different state to continue living his life.
And now, fast forward to the present, I have a friend whose name is Maclord and just like the other two guys, Mac is also a gift from heaven to me, but unlike the other two, I always make sure to give Mac his flowers every chance I get because I'm tired of having these regrets of not appreciating these people well enough.
Tonight was one of those nights for me and after I had appreciated him for all he does, for his kindness, he was speechless and probably in a bid not to make the place feel awkward, he had thanked me for thanking him and I couldn't help but laugh.
Anyways, the purpose of today's blog is to remind you to appreciate those people in your life who go out of their way just to be there for you..because they don't have to, they choose to.
You can consider yourself lucky because you met 3 person in your life with this kind of mentality. I don't know if I met with anyone like that. But it's good to appreciate them and let them know how special they are.
I guess I attract good people 😂
But yeah, I'm done not appreciating these people.. So I'm doing just that.
