Gaining Trust

avatar

This past couple of weeks/months has been really stressful for me, but has made me understand the importance of building trust.

If you're familiar with what is happening in Nigeria, then you should know that for some couple of weeks now, there has been less and less cash in circulation by the central bank of Nigeria. I don't know why they're doing this but this has seriously affected the lives of almost everyone. I said "almost" because I hear there are some politicians who have lots of cash stored somewhere but that's a story for another day.

Some of you might be wondering what the lack of cash and trust has to do together, well I will tell you. Due to the lack of physical cash, a lot of us now rely on doing bank transfers to retail sellers to buy even the littlest of things.

But then, that wouldn't be a problem if these transfers were going smoothly, but they're not. I once made a post here, talking about a lady I had sent money to after purchasing some foodstuff from her, and how she didn't get credited until about three - four days later and that only happened because she knew me.

Unfortunately it doesn't happen everywhere else. There are people who will refuse to give you the goods you paid for unless they get credited which then becomes an issue, because not only will you go home with nothing to eat, you also won't be able to buy somewhere else because you already sent the first retailer your money that she hasn't received yet.

I've been lucky to have experienced this just once, unlike some of my friends who complain everyday about not getting what they had paid for because of the "stupid network issue".

Today had almost been a bit different though. I had gone with my friend to buy some foodstuff and every shop we had sent money to didn't receive it before we left. I honestly don't know why they let us go (a part of me thinks its because of my innocent face), but I made a promise to return back to their shops later this evening to ask them if they've been credited, which I did.

I had gone back to every of the three shops, hoping to get some good news from them but it had been the complete opposite, none of them had gotten credited. I had asked them to wait till the next morning but then that's it, if they don't see it by tomorrow morning, I really don't know what to do because this people don't know me, so they don't trust me.

Them not seeing it by the morning will probably confirm their suspicion that I'm a fraudster trying to defraud them and then I probably will be forced to pay them again.

I really hope it doesn't come to that, so please pray for me.

Man! The feeling is indescribable when one has money but just cannot spend it on what they need, let alone what they want. I can imagine what you have been through.

The most appalling aspect of our situation is that, till this very moment, a solution to these problems have still not been found. For how long are we going to keep going like this? And I am not even talking about just the transfer issues. We keep going from one problem to another in Nigeria. How long, please?

I think the best thing you can keep doing is to show up every now and then at those shops you have this issue with. Not only will they build some sort of trust for you, but also, they will be at rest that they have not been cheated.

The whole thing is just exhausting to be honest.. Its as if these people in government just wake up and do whatever it is they want because they know there would be no repercussions.

I think the best thing you can keep doing is to show up every now and then at those shops you have this issue with.

Yeah, that is what I plan on doing. Thank you.

Hahaha.... It has reached the extent of praying about it 😅😅

Why aren't you using online banks already.
They actually solve this issue of transfer and the rest of them because there is no network issues using them and it is very swift

Ha! Really?
Maybe it's from the receiving end then
